All the more reason why people should get CHL's and carry. No such thing as a gun free zone, only in a utopia will such an idea ever exist. Absolutely disgusting how people murder others first, then suicide. If they want to kill themselves then do it out in the woods quietly and help feed the wildlife. Condolences to the family's that lost loved ones.

any news on how he came by these handguns, specific model/caliber, and whether he had CWP?

The news people have been strangely quiet about this.

One report said he had three guns. Another reported two 9mm semi-autos, which he used to hose down the room, one .45 revolver that he used on himself and a fourth that never left the bag. But the reports are also saying he got off about 50 rounds. Whether that's correct or somebody's exaggeration I don't know. One report quoted a local cop as saying he had acquired his guns legally.

I read his blog yesterday. Very chilling. Sad lonely middle-aged guy who didn't find much favor with the ladies and couldn't see any point in spending the rest of his life alone. But there is almost no mention of firearms at all. Just one entry from when he had planned to do this in January and "chickened out." He just wrote that he was all set, with loaded mags.

Looks like at least one Glock involved:

He may have had a concealed weapons permit:

Brace yourself for that second link, though. It's a predictable, yet stomach-turning effort to blame concealed carry permits for the Pennsylvania gym club shootings. As though a suicidal guy bent on murder is going to leave his guns at home in the absence of a permit.

Just what you would expect from Huffington.
