sig mpx sbr or crb

I want a sig MPX with SBR. Right now the pistol version is selling for a high pricr, about as much as the carbine edition(which comes with the stock).

Would it be cheaper to buy the pistol then buy the stock and stamp?

Or

Get the carbine and cut down the barrel and handguard when approved?
