I have dimensioned blueprints for the 1874 Sharps rifle as used in the movie Quigley Down Under. I was wondering, given the history of the Sharps in a military context, how similar is the receiver between the model 1859 and 1874? I do know that the design of the Sharps action was very conducive to the adaptation of metallic cartridges, and that's the reason why many of them were converted to cartridges such as the .50-70 post civil war.
