Just got one of these, sharpened all the kitchen knives and a carry knife in about 20 minutes. I may never go back to diamond stones.

If a knife is not too dull, I can get about 8-10 on a belt. Kitchen knives are a different angle and go a little faster on the belt replacement scale (6-8).

My rusted up Machete on the other hand took two belts but it will now shave hair off of a peach!

I buy the Worx belts. They go on sale at local vendors every so often.

320, 600, 1200 works every time.

Bragging alert! Many moons ago a cute sales rep gave me and my friends 6 or so of them (I used to dabble in hunting DVD'S). They remove a lot of metal but you end up with a decent edge.

Bi-Mart sells Belt packs for $8.99 some times, and that's 6 belts per pack!
I use mine constantly, and one set of belts has lasted almost 2 years with out replacement!
I also use it for yard tools, and various jobs where a small sander is handy! I do have a bearing going out though, so we will see how good their warranty is!
