Well, enough farting around; I have a Mossberg 990 Aftershock on the way. Will Form 1 when have the serial number. (Perhaps Woox will make wood furniture soon.) :s0155:

Get down, get funky:

Handy, surprisingly light, little thing. Haven't shot it yet; just picked up from FFL on way home from lab. In PGO form, strikes me as kinda pointless. But eForms will be getting another filing shortly. :s0155:

Pointless or not I sure as hell like the way it looks! Bet it will be damn fun to play with a little. Love it!

Finally received approval on eForms, somewhat curiously on Sunday. I noticed this condition at the bottom of the approved form:

Well, looks like engraving has to still be done, consarn it.

After that is done, will work on the build. Have some ideas on parts (stock and forearm), but open to recommendation on parts, particularly wood options.

That's my understanding too. I'm going to find out implementation date before I put another F1 in the pipeline.

Only one of the 34 proposed rules has been published so far (Cleo). For each rule, here is the timeline (Cleo public comment period is 60 days) from ai. So I'm guessing in the 160-320 days range depending on where in the order of the 34 rules it comes out.

ATF Rulemaking Process (Six Core Steps)
The ATF follows the administrative procedures for developing regulations based on Congressional authorization: [1]
  1. Drafting: The ATF creates a draft proposed rule to interpret a law.
  2. Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM): The proposed rule is published in the Federal Register.
  3. Public Comment Period: The public is invited to submit comments, generally lasting 90 days as of 2026, although at least 30 days is standard.
  4. Review and Revision: The ATF reviews comments and may modify the rule.
  5. Final Rule Publication: The final rule is published in the Federal Register.
  6. Effective Date: The rule becomes legally binding, often 30 to 120 days later. [1, 2, 3]

Finally got engraving done after Federales approved Form 1 and farted around on this project a bit this afternoon. For the moment, installed a top-folding stock:

Folded up, it is slightly smaller than the lil' Lupara:

I did some informal shooting (~40—50, 2¾", 00-buck) this afternoon. Zero malfunctions. Recoil surprisingly light. Mixed feelings on the folder, which describes pretty much every folder I've ever shot, but it does work and makes for a compact setup. Capacity is 5+1 or 5+1+1 if one is loaded on the lifter.

I do have a Woox stock* that could be employed, but I have, as of yet, not found a wood forearm/stock set that is positively compatible. Open to ideas on that score.

NICE!!!

So, I've got an interest to add a semi-automatic, home defense—oriented, scattergun to the mix. Anywho, I am curious for recommendations to achieve:

  • Semi-automatic.
  • Older or newer design, doesn't really matter.
  • Preferably in 12-gauge, though 20 would be more than fine. For this one, no .410-bore. As gonzo as a 10 would be, that would be severely limiting, so probably not.
  • A magazine capacity of at least 5 + 1. More is better, but the aforementioned is good to go.
  • Could go either way with tube magazine or detachable box magazine fed. I'd lean toward the former though.
  • A short barrel. I am heavily leaning towards SBSing this one to 14"-ish and/or cut back to magazine tube barrel length. Though a standard 18" would work. (If SBS, looking to Form 1ing this one as eForms would be quick enough. Paper Form 4 ridiculous waits might conflict with some life plans.)
  • A fixed, full-sized stock.
  • Strong preference toward wood furniture. If aftermarket has to be done, no worries.
  • Probably ghost-ring type sights. Open to other ideas though.
  • Positively a light system.
  • Almost certainly no muzzle brake or related.
  • Probably not a silencer, but wouldn't completely rule it out.
Thoughts on the base gun? Parts, upgrades, and related? Other thoughts? Thanks!
I think the beretta a300 is hard to beat for the price.
