Just ordered a Savage 93R17 GLV LH. 17 HMR Looking at different options for rimfire
scopes. First time I ever bought a left handed rifle.:p

Too much magnification? Maybe a 3X9 power???

Whichever you decide on will likely be fine for the 17.

My only tip is to go with a fine reticle. Most reticles cover up your shots.

I picked up a Leupold 3-9x50 from here and put it on my 17. Has very fine duplex.

Longest squirrel taken this far with it was at 75 yards. Right in the head.

What is your primary and secondary use for the rifle?

How far is the furthest expected target?

Hard to answer your question without that info.

If using in matches, some have a 25yd portion, make sure you can adjust the parralax down to that.

Going out to 200 I would say 12x at a minimum 16x would be better. Just be sure you get the low end also.

Yes. Not for range on the optic but for precise pinpoint shooting.

Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4-12x40 with 60y parallax. I run that on my Ruger Precision Rimfire in .17.

I've never been a Bushnell fan but I mounted one of these on a new 17HMR and so far very happy for the money. I bought because. Less than $150.
  1. The 3-12 range
  2. It has a side focus parallax adjustment...not common on rimfire scopes but I've grown accustomed.
  3. Comes with three BDC turrets. Std, 22LR and 17HMR. The 17 turrets is suprisingly accurate.
All the featu help stay comfortable when behind the scope for hours in the sage rat fields.

My .17 seems to enjoy the luxury of the step up from 3x to even the 6-24x40 when I stretch out into the 100yd ranges.
It makes *me* expect more of myself with a better optic.
