Understood but I like to have spare parts on hand for all of my "tools". If I have a proprietary platform that is difficult to get parts for, it adds a check in the "not sure this is a good thing" column.

I'm not a big AR fan, but the AR-style 308 platform interests me since I could have a 16-18" battle rifle upper, and also a longer, scoped long-range rifle upper. This type of concept:

LWRC International LLC - R.E.P.R.

If I were building up one myself I would probably use the Monolithic Rail Platform from Lewish Machine & Tool.

Yeah, looked at the REPR. Way too expensive for me. I have decided to go with the PWS MK2 platform with a 16" barrel. I will get a DI 20" upper for long range later on.
