For sale is an excellent 640-01 in .357 magnum.
This revolver is mechanically perfect, and finish is good to excellent due to some carry time. No rust. no pitting. very clean cylinder.
I purchased this revolver used many years ago, and I am sure I will regret parting with it.
Unknown round count, but timing is perfect, no wear, no issues. I took it to the range a couple of times per year. Carried it quite often.
I owned a large number of j frames through the years, including PC guns, and this one has been the best so far.
No lock, no MIM. This was the first generation of 640s chambered in .357 mag.
Comes with a plastic s&w box (this is not the original box).
comes with hogue overmolded grips that covers the backstrap (essential if you want to shoot 357s)
Also included are a set of current s&w two pieces boot grips, and a set of very nice altamont boot grips (wood).
I am asking a very reasonable 600 dollars for this revolver. Transfer fees on the buyer.
