Ruger American Ranch issues

Hey all so after battling this thing for far too long I'm asking for some input, it's a gen 1 ranch that takes ar mags in 300blk. I can't for the life of me get it to feed anything even remotely reliable. 110s to 200gr subs nothing will feed right. They get caught and push the bullet into the case or deform it. I've tried I don't know how many brands and kinds of mags. The lancer 300blk mags work the best, I should say have slightly less issues. I don't need perfect by any means. At this point I'd be happy with once or twice a mag. Not at minimum every other round. It's like the feed ramp is too steep? I really wanna like the thing, when it does occasionally feed right ish with subs and a can it's a ton of fun, the rest of the time I wanna just throw the thing. Im about to the point of just sending it off but thought I'd see if anyone else here has had the same issue. Anyways thanks in advance!

My BIL has a new Ruger American in .243.

We had some difficulty feeding and tried a few things.

We noted that the rounds would not feed unless the top round in the mag was absolutely at the highest seated position in the mag. So maybe a completely filled mag would help some.

Also, it helps to make sure your bolt is all the way back (open) before inserting the mag into the magwell.

Now that it is broken in a bit it seems to work a lot better now.

Polish the feed ramp.

Does it happen if the top cartridge is in the left and right position?

Does it feed with a factory Ruger magazine? If not, contact Ruger. I bet they will make it right. I've always had good luck with them backing their product the few times I've had an issue.

I've tried full and partial 5/10/20rd magpul, 2nd amend, stanag, lancer, hex mag and pro mags, and it has issues all the way through the mag so I'm not really sure if the cartridge on one side or the other helps or not.

If I remember right it came with a 10rd magpul mag

My RARR 300 BLK, an early model, had the Ruger flush with stock, plastic 5 round mag (no longer own this one).

My RARR in 7.62x39 uses the steel mini 30 style mags and feeds fine.

I would contact Ruger and send it back for warranty work if you can't get it to work to your satisfaction.

I have the same gun, down to the gen 1. Mine fed a little rough from finish machining being a little rough but I've never had any feeding issues. I use whatever AR mag is closest when shooting it so it is not picky at all. Are there any marks on the feed ramp or bolt where it is removing material from the cartridge? Contact Ruger for some ideas, I have only needed their warranty dept once but they were great to deal with.

Following, mine has had feeding issues since new. i have to fight almost every round to get it to chamber. The bolt looks like it was formed with a wood chisel . I was told to try and smooth it out, but I am afraid of voiding the warranty. Got to where I dont even want to shoot it anymore. Regret buying it unfortunately.

My .300 black Ruger ranch required replacement by Ruger. It wasn't usable. Would not chamber a round and had the bendy milk carton plastic stock. They replaced it with a functional gun.
