Wonder if that's the casino herd?

I don't believe it's one of the 7 herds of Northwest California in general, and I'm pretty sure it's not the 'casino' herd in particular. Here's why, zooming in I don't see a single tracking collar, and especially not 'Nellie' a tracked cow from the 'casino' herd that has a distinctive look to her (and a limp as the poor thing got hit by a car).

I was driving through Eastern Oregon Sunday on my way home from a funeral. We drove through a herd of over 500 Rocky Mountain elk. They were on both sides of the highway and my wife couldn't figure out which way to point her camera!

Roosevelt in particular, no idea about in general. They are only in 3 or 4 counties in California, but I think in all of Oregon West of the Cascades.

Unfortunately for me, 90% of the elk I've seen have been outside of hunting season
Still, luckily for me, the 10% has produced a goodly amount but over 60 years.
Only one has been a Roosevelt..

I knows guys that have hunting their whole lives and never killed a elk of any sub species
