I have question on the AK-47 gas piston. With my M14 you keep the gas piston and cylinder dry. Is it the same for AK-47 to keep it dry as well? What about the gas cylinder too?

Just using CLP to cleaning and lubing right now.

Thank you.

I always lubricate as an anti-rust procedure, but then wipe dry so I don't get buildup. Plus at that heat it'll all burn off anyway so no value to keeping it wet IMO.

Dry if in use. For storage or other purposes keep it oiled.
^^^ +1 to this.

I keep my stored firearms greased up since the oil tends to run off (or evaporate?) in storage.

But Ive always lightly oiled the inside of the gas tube and gas block. Its steel and will rust here in the PWN.

i use clp in it. I haven't cleaned the gastube in over 1000rds and it was not really that gummed up when I finally gave it a scrubbing. Rust? yeah...could happen...But I personally don't worry too much about it. Just shoot and enjoy...its an AK.
