I got an Aero upper that has a triangle hand guard cap but I need a round one. I have never worked on a gas block with pins as opposed to set screws. I understand they can only be hammered out one direction. But that is about the extent of my understanding and they don't seem to want to budge. Anyone with advice, tips or tricks to doing this job?

Kroil wait at least a 1/2 hr then use a punch and hammer, sharp rap will pop them out.

This should help and I would do a Kroil soak over night before starting.

Drive from left side of rifle to right, as I recall. The round protruding pins are the on the side that should be pushed out. Support the gas block against some sort of block, drizzle some Kroil to lube the inside, get a good steel punch that is the right size and your BFH and work carefully.

I tried removing some pins from a factory Bushmaster FSB and failed. Having a very solid surface for the fsb to rest in/on while also keeping the barrel from moving is probably the trick. You will want both hands free for hammer and punch action.

One of these blocks would probably help. Notice how the barrel was rocking in the block, if you could stabilize the barrel from rocking it would likely work better.
