I have an AR pistol. I'm interested in taking off the upper 10.5 inch and replacing it with a 16 inch upper. Then switching the pistol brace to a regular collapsible stock. Is this legal? Crazy for me to even have to ask considering our government is already overreaching (in my opinion). I know I can't keep the upper and replace brace with stock unless I register it as an SBR. Thanks.

If your lower was bought as a lower receiver and not as part of a whole rifle or whole pistol, you can go back and forth indefinitely because the form you bought it on said "other."

Some might say, "no you can't" because the ATF says…

but, yeah, you can… there is no form declaring what you own as specifically one or the other.

yes

going from pistol to rifle = A OK
going from rifle to pistol = federal pound me in the arse prison.
I'm just messing around cause he did say 16"
