"too much, too fast" sounds like an excuse he's prepared for Bloomberg.

I am not trying to beat a dead horse here, but why are many people giving OFF credit for stopping SB 1551 if one thinks a week of letters and calls stopped Prozasnki because OFF told you to do it worked, I have ocean view property in eastern Oregon Id like to sell. I have written right hand on the bible to OFF 3 times since 2016 started you know how many answers I got a response from them? He also never answered my family either, ZERO.responses...I have asked very clear for a plan and nothing. But oddly comi-Prozasnki did answer back telling me they are reviewing options for it at the time I wrote two weeks ago.
Many of you must be friends with OFF to give them such credit and doing so is dangerous. Like I have said I supported OFF for along time not this year. But I think doing so now will get us another SB941 passing as OFF has no power and OFF and the Antis do not even talk like never. OFF has said exactly this, so an organization that has zero contact with the Antis is doing what exactly its a simple question I ask that never is answered not by OFF or the supporters. I for one wont support anyone until I here an easy answer, and that is what is the plan to combat these laws as we know writing and calling wont work.
Make sure you support the NRA in the upcoming years, we need some power hitters here in Oregon and the NRA is the only way we get something done
They are up to lots of other stuff, so I'm not really surprised that they dropped gun control.
Besides raising the state's minimum wage, there are bills for privatizing the state's liquor monopoly, and phasing out the use of coal to generate electricity in Oregon.
And then there is a "compromise" corporate income tax increase, which the sponsors claim will only raise taxes $ 1 Billion dollars on businesses in Oregon. However, as usual, Republicans were never even consulted in drafting the bill. And it is being offered on a "take it or leave it" basis.
Because of that, it is doubtful that it will get a lot of Republican support. And more liberal Democrats are in favor of the pending ballot measure corporate tax increase that was created by a group of government employee labor unions to help keep PERS afloat financially. It is estimated that it will increase taxes on Oregon corporations by a whopping $5.2 Billion. So left-wing Democrats will probably not support the compromise either.
Alas, Oregon is starting to go down a very screwy road. And it may lead to the state eventually being like California.

Jack, you're right. The NRA also was absent with the recall for Prozonski. They have also been absent when it came to support and organization for the rallies at the capitol the last few years. They were also absent when it came to calling for members to take action and let their representatives know how they felt about gun control measures in Oregon.I noticed on SB941, the NRA was nowhere to be found. They blew Oregon off that time.
Jack
Coulda' fooled me.I am not trying to beat a dead horse here,........
merci beaucoup!
You are absolutely on the mark here. That's exactly what I've been calling for in other threads, but been chastised about it. Being told to do it myself. As much as OFF is needed for awareness of pending legislation, they are woefully absent in actual organization of the next step beyond emails, calls & testimony, which is protesting & disrupting Salem when Reps ignore the people. As far as I know they are the only group with any reach that can organize these things as a last ditch effort to stop these bills from passing, but never have attempted to do that.
We should all send emails asking Kevin at OFF to add this to the tools used to fight these bills. If he doesn't have the time I'm sure someone else could step up to fill the need. Someone who's retired or self employed, etc. Anyone else think this is a good idea?
You're the only person I've heard of with this experience. What I've seen is that OFF and Kevin have been at the forefront of gun issues on several fronts. OFF provides current and breaking information and tools for people to take action. I can't say I've ever gotten information from the NRA that was actionable in Oregon, but I have from GOA. People give OFF credit for raising the alarm, providing detailed information and who to write, where to meet for hearings and rallys, etc. The 'victory' in stopping 1551 is due to all the people that took action. But a lot depend on OFF to be the overwatch, and give us all a heads up, and good information on how to take action, which they do spectacularly. What action you take is up to you, and it is you who has to do it; they're not going to hold your hand. Yet Kevin has always taken time to respond to my emails, and I don't even know him personally, but I do know he's busy person. There are no easy answers, but OFF's legal organization does work with politicians on pro-gun legislation as well as with anti-gunners, and community leaders, as well as providing legal support to people who are being wrongly prosecuted. They also have an educational non-profit program as well, but I am not too familiar with it. No one I know of, who wants to stand up for their 2nd amendment rights in Oregon, doesn't benefit is some way from OFF's work.
If you think someone is going to do all the hard work and then provide an easy answer for you, all wrapped up in a package, well I think you have a career as a liberal bureaucrat or welfare recipient waiting for you.
We are all responsible for fighting for our rights.
Is there anything he personally is introducing? I want to continue to harass him on anything he proposes.
What proactive action do you hope to see? OFF reports to it's members, and anyone else that wants to know, when it hears of drafts or proposed legislation. They then ask members to rally around the cause. Kevin is our lobbyist and I'm not sure what else you want from the organization. When we work within the political framework of our representative republic, it means that we petition those whom we have elected to represent us. If we're outnumbered in the legislature, the most we can hope for is to slow things down by sticking a finger in the dike.I will just stand by what I said, and I am far from alone in how I feel. . But I am not here to bash OFF, those are my experiences the fact others love OFF that's great but in no way changes 1% of how I feel about them at this point. I respect your response because I can't very well expect everyone to agree with me. My hope is OFF will do something more pro-active then reactive the truth is everything they have done the last 8 years has been reactive and not pro-active. The problem is if a group is reactive to a proactive opposition like Antis-Gunners are, then you are always chasing the dogs tail. I am sure most OFF lovers will see this as an attack I get that here by some but is 100% untrue I have paid thousands over the years to OFF in the support I even still have OFF patches on my jacket that said its also then my right to say I am not happy with how they perform. If people want OFF to spend 1000's and 1000's telling you the news up in Salem thats your rights, I for one simply get emails from the state often before OFF ever emails us, So its my choice to say I want a proactive lobby not a reactive one if they want my money. Yep the NRA was not seen anywhere in SB941 and with that OFF made no difference as well when left to fend for itself it did not have any power to stop anything. I gonna drop this at this point it, how I feel based on my experiences. I want them to do well and succeed so if OFF gets in the drivers seat this year with lots of room to get a bite on 2016 then I will retract my statement.

Perhaps he should champion against thugs that kill women instead of inanimate objects.
It is sort of ironic, though, that he argues that he, himself, needs to be able to own a gun for his own personal protection, due to his past work as a prosecutor for Lane County, and later the city of Florence. He says that because of his work, there are people who hate him and want to do him harm.
