Herbivores taste way better than carni/omni -vores.
Flavor depends partly on the species but hugely on what the animals have been eating. My free range Ancona ducks were delicious. And their diet included huge amounts of earth worms, slugs, and insects. However, if they had been eating much fish, both meat and eggs would have been off flavor. Likewise if their feed had included fish meal. The flavor of Berkshire pork requires free ranging your Berkshire pigs. The famous Iberian hams are a certain breed of hogs free ranged in areas where their diet includes a lot of acorns. Sometimes farmers in the South used to net huge amounts of carp and use them to feed hogs. Then they would sell the hogs to markets in which the hogs would be mixed with hogs from many growers and transported to distant markets. This was necessary to prevent the buyer from figuring out who had sold them the hogs with the really awful fishy flavored meat and soft fat. If the cow has a pasture with too many alliums--plants of the onion-garlic family, her milk might have an off onion-garlic flavor. Grass-fed grass-finished beef tastes completely different from corn-finished beef, though both taste good. When I was a kiddie in Georgia , good ole boy farmers sometimes trapped raccoons in fall, put them in cages, and fattened and finished them on a diet that included windfall apples as the main source of carbohydrates. Newly trapped coons didn't necessarily taste good because they usually had been eating too much fish or carrion or other stuff that tainted the meat. I'm guessing the coons were probably lots tenderer after lounging in a small cage for a few weeks too. A friend of mine once finished a hog on Sweet Meat squash. The meat was so strongly flavored with the distinctive flavor of that squash that anyone familiar with the squash would know beyond doubt what the hog had been eating.

This has likely been discussed here previously, but would ban husbandry practices as well as harvesting or trapping animals of any type. No fishing, no hunting of any kind.
Just one more reason to move the Idaho state line. Or maybe we should build a wall around the tri-county area. What they can't see won't hurt them

The bill would also make it illegal to harvest farm,/ranch animals for meat unless animal has died a natural death. That is animals cannot be grown and butchered for meat at all basically. Its not economical to wait several years for the animals to die of old age or predators. And most meat animals that die that way are wasted or slvage quality. And artificial insemination would be considered sexual assault on the animal. And if done in the presence of a minor would be a felony. It also outlaws many standard practices such as dehorning, castrating, and tail docking. Basically the bill would end meat and egg production by farmers and ranchers in Oregon.

The full text and an article on it can be found in Capital Press, the weekly agricultural newspaper of western US. It seems ridiculous that the bill might pass, but Capital Press is taking it very seriously.

PETA would ban meat coming from elsewhere into grocery stores too. Forced Veganry.... what a concept.

I really have a hard time understanding the demographics of Portland Metro. From my perspective, Hillsboro and Aloha on the West Side are both pretty conservative and Oregon City and Clackamas on the East Side as well. Beaverton used to be pretty red but is mostly blue and I still feel Milwaukee is 50/50. How did the area become so radically one sided with the demographics being somewhat down the middle?
Portland still has more people by about 300k, so even if the other municipalities were straight red and portland straight blue, they would still out number them two to one...

From the Oregon Farm Bureau:

So who is behind this proposal? David Michelson is the activist behind IP13. He is serving as both campaign director and chief petitioner of Yes on IP13, and formed the organization "End Animal Cruelty" to run this initiative. He is also behind a similar proposal in Colorado. However, it appears they are getting support from a wide variety of animal rights organizations, and are well resourced.

Problem is, urban people often don't understand enough about their food to realize that meat, milk and egg production would all be impossible under these rules. And urbanites outnumber rural people in Oregon. And of course many vegans might want to eliminate meat. But most urbanites don't.

The idea does, however, provide significant additional evidence that liberalism is a mental disorder.
For a long time I never really believed this, and thought liberalism was the result of a persons background, lifestyle, personal relationships, influenced by their parents or how or where they grew up but after experiencing the bizarre ideas/attitudes/opinions/beliefs from the ultra lib family member I have often mentioned I am now believing there is something to this.

When I see the hysterical childlike tantrums from the libs we have all seen in online videos it really supports possibility of mental disorders.

Recently I posted his final message to me where he said, I cannot be friends with someone who is an obvious Trump supporter, anti vaxxer who does NOT believe in 'our' constitution, Democracy and rule of law as a 'typical American' supports, AND supports the end of Democracy'

And he got all off this from assumptions and, his words, my 'Lack of responses' to him.

SO because I choose to not engage in any political discussion with him (it would be pointless) and he somehow deduces I am all these things because I simply never responded to him ?

If I ever DID respond to him I am quite sure it would have set off a non-stop barrage from him of anti conservative hate and vitriol.

The overall direction of the political party (not allowed to be mentioned) reminds me of the overlords represents in Atlas Shrugged. Seems the end game is to coral the masses in high density population centers where they can be managed. Making it illegal to independently survive off natural resources (the Kings wild game) is just another press towards controlling the more independent rural and suburbanite populations. Too bad most Americans aint buying it as seen in the mass exodus from CA/WA/OR to the more free States.

Beck Co-wrote a novel of that name. I often tell people the story of how lovely the utopia was, everybody earning the same (nothing), nobody having more than anybody else (govt provided food/clothing/housing), all children raised in a facility, people assigned work every day, people expected to operate a treadle for hours a day to generate electricity, etc. Oh, how wonderful life like that would be...

But now we have U.N. Goals for Sustainablity (sp), otherwise known as Agenda 2031. An even more massive takeover of the world. An effort to take down large countries in favor of 3rd world countries.

The Great Reset.
