"Domestic I il exports increased during Trump's 4 years."

Of course oil exports increased during Trump. Under Trump, US oil production hit records high, and supply out paced demand.

However...

Since Biden took office US oil production has gone no where, and remains well below Trump era highest production levels despite demand returning. Under Biden, supply cannot meet demand. As of Dec 2021 we produced 11,567,000 BPD. Under Trump, US oil production peaked at Feb 2020 12,826,000 BPD. That took a hit when Covid arrived and supply outpaced demand. A the end of Trump's term, oil production averaged 11,100,000 BPD, brought back from the low point of 9,711,000 BPD in May/June 2020.

We are now producing 1,259,000 BPD LESS under Biden democrats than we did under Trump and we are still importing 672,000 BPD from Russia.

If it wasn't for Biden putting up road blocks, we would still be issuing permits, and we would be producing more oil than we need right now. Instead, we will be short oil production once the existing Russian contracts expire and dems have done nothing to fix this.

Thank Biden, Thank the Democrats. Dem polices helped drive up oil prices. Can't blame oil companies for capitalizing on the market Democrats created, they are for profit companies after all.

But hey! Booty judge said every one complaing should just go out and buy an electric car!

Someone had to offset the negative Balance of Trade. Perhaps you should turn your scorn toward Walmart (and similar companies, which seem to back progressive movements and candidates) for importing cheap Chinese garbage products instead of supporting American products.

A little-known fact is that US diesel exports skyrocketed when the Feds mandated catalytic converters on diesel engines. This required removing virtually all sulfur from diesel fuel. To do this, refiners would have to invest in expensive new equipment, or run the fuel multiple times through their existing scrubbing equipment. Global demand for diesel was rising, so many refineries chose to export the "bad" fuel. This is the reason for the "exported oil." It is refined product that is being exported, value added with good-paying American jobs.

It also was a major contribution to the rise in domestic diesel prices. (Little-known fact: Federal rules allow high-sulfur diesel to be used "off-road." The State of Oregon rules require the use of low-sulfur diesel in all diesel engines, raising the cost of all goods and services provided using off-road equipment.)

This is another example of arrogant bureaucrats mucking things up by not understanding basic economics.

BTW, I don't know for sure, but I believe that oil produced in the USA and sent to a US-owned refinery outside the country, is considered "exported," and if it comes back into the US, is probably considered "imported."

Since roughly Fall 2008, US production has steadily increased (includes Obama's 8 years, Trump's 4 years, and now Biden's term). It has everything to do with advances in fracking/shale production technology and very little to do with who's in office. There were occasional dips, including 2016 (Obama) and 2020 (Trump), but the macro trend is heading higher even now during Biden:

False, and easily disproven: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=mcrfpus2&f=m

Under Biden, supply cannot meet demand. As of Dec 2021 we produced 11,567,000 BPD.
Oil production has seasonality. Under Trump in December 2020, we produced 11,084,000 BPD (less than December 2021 under Biden).

So you admit oil production plummeted by 30% under Trump, but that the Macro trend is still steadily rising.

Obama had nothing to do with the oil boom in 2008. He only benefited from the advancements in shale oil technology. His policy helped kill oil production in his final term and raise gas prices. Trump relaxed oil policies and opened the taps, production rose and gas prices dropped.

Fact is! Towards the later half of Obama's second term, 2015, oil production plateaued and the Obama admin did nothing to encourage further production, the result being in Obama's final year, 2016, US oil production significantly dropped and gas prices went up!

Oil production dropping during Obama's final 2016 term was because of his own polices, gas prices went up!

Oil production dropping during Trump's 2020 year was because of covid, people stopped driving, demand dropped, supply piled up, production stopped, prices didn't go up at the time because no body was driving. Supply and demand.

You're wrong again. Funny how you keep proving yourself wrong with your own links. Show me where oil production under Biden is above the pre covid Trump oil production? Based on your own link, Biden oil production is 1,259,000 BPD LESS than pre covid production.

Since Trump took office in 2017, oil production steadily increased until covid hit Feb 2020 and killed production. Nothing in the chart shows oil production drops seasonally.

Dec 2017 9,797,000 BPD
Dec 2018 11,924,00 BPD
Dec 2019 12,910,00 BPD

That is seasonal? Gee oil production just kept going up!

"Under Trump in December 2020, we produced 11,084,000 BPD (less than December 2021 under Biden)."

Under Trump, December 2020, people were jsut going back to work, Trump was increasing oil production and steadily bought it back up from the May shutdown.

So you admit oil production plummeted by 30% under Trump, but that the Macro trend is still steadily rising.
People weren't driving, demand dropped, oil production dropped. Not due to Trump poliices.

That is steadily rising?

We are still short 1,259,000 BPD from pre covid production peaks. The wells should still be there... US oil producers had no problem ramping up production from lows before and increasing production 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 BPD within a 12 month period. Why can't Biden do it?

But! US Production is coming back already? Why are we begging Venezuela, Iran, and Saudis for oil then?

Again, false, we'll hit record domestic production in 2022 and 2023 looking at the Macro trend.
Again, true, you can't hit record domestic production when Biden limits oil companies beyond what they can already do. You have to keep drilling to wells as the older wells go dry.

Between the first year of Obama's term and the last, domestic oil production nearly doubled, ~100% gain. Between the first year of Trump's term and the last, domestic oil production gained by ~35%. Whomp whomp.

Who was President when the complete 2972 miles of the original Keystone Pipeline was built? Obama.

Who was President when 0 miles of the Keystone XL was built? Trump.

Why are you comparing pre-COVID Trump numbers to post-COVID Biden numbers? Don't cherry pick. Trump doesn't get a pass for domestic production dropping when HE was the moron who shut down the country in March 2020: https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/articles/15-days-slow-spread/

If the buck stops at the top, it always stops at the top, then and now. You don't get to decide when the guy at the top gets a pass and when he doesn't. Trump put a lot of domestic producers out of business when he shut down the country and oil prices dropped to zero. A lot of oil field workers got canned in Spring 2020 as well. Check the tapes.

The reason we're going to hit RECORD domestic production in 2023 is because oil companies are raking in the dough. No politics, just simple dollars and cents. Existing land leases and producers can easily break 12.5 million BPD without Biden authorizing a single new lease.

This was Trump "shutting down the country". From your link:

  1. Listen to and follow the directions of your state and local authorities.
  2. If you feel sick, stay home. Do not go to work. Contact your medical provider.
  3. If your children are sick, keep them at home. Contact your medical provider.
  4. If someone in your household has tested positive for the Coronavirus, keep the entire household at home.
  5. If you are an older American, stay home and away from other people.
  6. If you are a person with a serious underlying health condition—such as a significant heart or lung problem—stay home and away from other people.
Ok. And let me guess, republicans pass more GC than Democrats?

You don't need a link about the same thing we all experienced, which was Trump shutting down the country. Remember the stock market crashing by 50% in a couple weeks? Oil prices going to zero? 20 million people getting laid off?

Ok fine, here's your link: https://www.inquirer.com/health/cor...elines-braces-us-big-death-toll-20200329.html

The tapes are all there. There's even video on YouTube:

"we live in the greatest economy and country in the history of the world." bkroger86

Brent crude just hit 118.9/barrel, WTI Crude up to 115/barrel Under Biden, two-third of American house holds are living pay check to check, and they are reminded every time they fill up why they are in this situation.

This is the greatest economy?

Then again, You come on Northwestfirearms and spend 98% of your time regurgitating the same non firearm talk.

You're on here telling us the sky is falling in every thread. The act is getting old. If it was March 2020 again, I might have believed you.

If fuel prices are such a huge burden why am I seeing so many suburbanites driving big 4x4 trucks with big wheel/tire combos? My neighbor owns one and I have never seen a speck of mud on that thing. Of course his wife drives a big ol SUV, so I doubt they are hurting money wise.

Funny, I never thought oil companies set prices, markets did.
Though, I did see something important in the article:
In 2021, the four companies bought back over $6.6 billion in stocks while hiking up their dividends. And the oil giants are planning for an "even better" 2022 for shareholders, with plans already in place to buyback over $22 billion in stock thanks to high oil prices. Meanwhile, average Americans are being forced to downsize their homes, miss seeing family and friends, and consolidate medical visits in order to cover high gas costs.
I'd call that good corporate management.
Also from the article:
Meanwhile, average Americans are being forced to downsize their homes, miss seeing family and friends, and consolidate medical visits in order to cover high gas costs.
I'm not emotionally moved because Darrel and Karen American can't get out to spread their dysfunction among family and friends. Downsizing is a function of them not properly budgeting for their house, buying what they are told they can afford, rather than what they really can. Consolidating medical visits? Buwhawhawha! I'm sure "accountable.us" has oodles of articles on the high cost of medical, bad big pharma and similar boo-hoo tales.

Or, start robbing the oil refineries, not sure they have armed guards.
Kinda tough - finished product goes right into pipelines, at least at the refineries where I've done work. Most everything else would be like rolling up to an auto plant, stealing rolls of steel and tires.

Domestic oil numbers: https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=mcrfpus2&f=m

Obama year 1: ~5 million BPD
Obama year 8: ~9 million BPD, 80% gain
Trump year 1: ~9 million BPD
Trump year 4: ~12 million BPD before COVID, ~11 million BPD after COVID, even before COVID that's a 33% gain

Keystone construction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystone_Pipeline

Phase 1: Started in 2010, Obama president
Phase 3b: Completed 2016, Obama president

Keystone XL: Trump had 4 years, couldn't get it built, whomp whomp.

Kinda like Trump's wall, only built 450 miles out of the 2000 miles he promised. Only 80 miles of the 450 miles was brand new barriers; the rest replaced existing sections of wall. You can cut through all of it with a $100 electric hacksaw from Home Depot:
