I read something about this somewhere a while back: we're all parrots. Our beliefs depend on the voices we listen to and the sources we trust. If the talking heads on our side are saying things and making arguments, we hear and believe, and think those arguments are our own. This does seem to be true for most everyone, regardless of ideology, intelligence, or education, no matter how independent we think we are.

The current talking point on the left is that any discussion of inflation turns to "It's not inflation! It's capitalism! Capitalism is the problem!"

Not trying to pick on anyone here; we all do it. Depending on which side we trust, we argue like puppets with their arguments, thinking they are our own.

How does consumer sentiment feel out here in the PNW? 2024 was our worst year for construction in over 30 years. Are people going to be remodeling their homes in 2025 if President Trump wins?

I got a haircut Tuesday. There were no customers there, which is unusual. He said it has been slow, and getting slower. The shop is in a mall, and the parking lot was nearly empty. He pointed this out, and said that the other shops have seen a big drop-off in business.

I wonder if everyone has maxed out their credit cards, and can't keep spending. That doesn't look good.

Or maybe it's just that the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter has aligned with Mars and everybody's getting ready to embrace their inner hippie

The left controls the media so all numbers are manipulated. Remember when motorcycle deaths were covid deaths and the whole nine yards?

60% are on the ropes, the other 40 never squandered our money in the first place.
It's the poor that keep fast food joints going.
I haven't paid for a haircut in over twenty years.
It all adds up.

Saw a video today.

US takes in a total of 4.4 trillion.

Interest on debt is about 1 trillion ( say 23%).
Interest is the 3rd largest expenditure after social security and medicare.

Interest on the current debt is greater than spending on the military.

"Welfare" is called "Income Security".

....And we are adding to debt at over 2 trillion per year.

Story said interest is going to have to increase as will inflation.
Pay the debt with cheaper dollars or don't pay it at all.

The government will be forced to convert you private wealth to government income...

The one that posted the "Porch lights will be off this year" has me on ignore, so I can't quote him directly, but that photo of the candy is a couple years old, 2019 to be exact, and give me a second to check my notes on who the president was in 2019 . . . .

We live out in the country and never get trick or treaters, on top of that I am diabetic. Dont really care about the price of candy. I remember when I was a kid home made goodies were the big prize. You knew who you were getting your treats from - today you would not dare eat a home made treat. People have changed.

I grew up in a town of 600. I always loved the homemade fudge, popcorn balls, etc. I also got apples and oranges. Getting a candy bar was a rare treat.
