Some assume I've made bad financial decisions and that they are not worried and will retire just fine. To assume that an individual has made bad financial decisions, not having any proof and evidence to back it up, rather ignorant.

As far as believing that one will retire just fine, without any problems, and a comfortable life during their golden years…..Yeah, sure, some will have that luxury but it's a small percentage in my opinion. People believe they will "have" based on the current system. What happens when that system that promised you a retirement collapses?

Let's just say, you will get $5k a month for retirement. What is the purchasing power of that money today? In 3 years, in 5 years, and let's say in 10 years? A basic two bedroom apartment is at least $1500 in Beaverton where my gf lives. A visit to Costco to get the basics is $200 a week for two people, car insurance is up, gas is $4 something….on and on. So you see, that $5k isn't going to get you as much as it could five years ago, as an example. If you are on set income and you have to continue to pay more and more and more, now you're retirement isn't what you thought. Is the retirement pay going to stay up with inflation? My mother is on retirement and disability. Sure there is an increase in pay here and there but she has to pay more for everything. So that extra $20 they decided to give her each month is a joke. Actually it's an illusion and a joke, but I digress.

Some say they chose to work after retirement. Okay I can see how someone would want to stay busy and not deteriorate. Do you have to work to stay sharp? Can having a hobby and living an active life do the same? I have never met anyone who absolutely loves to work. Sure there are a small percentage IMO that do enjoy working and they will stop when they are dead. They are the lucky ones that found a job they truly love. I've worked with many retired folks and not a single one did it for fun. They did it because retirement wasn't what they thought (not enough income) and or health or unexpected financial issues occurred.

If I make it to retirement, I'd want to travel, build a project in my garage, go shoot and off road. No way would I want to go to work and deal with and relive that work life…… but that's me…… oh and pay taxes on my paychecks lol NO THANKS.

Now, let's say you get that $5K a month but you also have investments that pay….. let's say you invested in energy and mining. Every month you make a few grand……. Okay! That's what I'm talking about. And let's say your savings are diversified and you physically own a good portion of what you've earned. Maybe you're a mechanic or have some skill, you decode to do a little here and there and make some money off the radar, ok cool.

For me, to depend on having a good retirement based on 401 and whatever else promises, very reckless and a gamble. If you don't hold it, you don't own it. And a very high percentage of the population is going to be decimated IMO. The dollar's purchasing power is sh!t now, and people think in the near future it will hold or get better? What if you need a pillow case full of currency to pay for your weekly needs?

I have cash on hand and I have metals to back me up in the future. I have physical assets and I have many guns and lots of ammo, just a few examples. Based on my research, I'm like a top 10%er lol. By no means am I trying to show off because I'm not ballin and I take it one day at a time. But I am my own bank and have stability. I am blessed with an okay job so I can continue to deposit into my bank, the bank of DAVID lol. I will put mine up against anyone in my age group that will retire based on depending on the system to give them a retirement. We shall see who will have a better retirement. People depend on the same system that is screwing them today and making/keeping them poor. To live your life under the assumption that a government promise will take good care of you during your golden years is very reckless and hard lessons shall be learned IMO. If/when you get screwed, who are you going to go after to get your pound of flesh?

Way to ruin my day and I was expecting a rate cut today. :(

Ah yes the rate cuts. If I'm not mistaking, we will end up paying even more for things. They want Kamala in office so they gotta make the economy look good and strong lol. I hear they wanna do 75 basis points next year…. Oh joy.

Inflation - everything I buy has increased in price except a haircut. Still $15 for me, has been since I started going to her 8 years ago. I always gave her a 20 but now 25, cash. I think she is reluctant to raise prices and wants to keep customers. Other guys I know are paying 25 to 30 plus tip at their barber.

If thats not a consequence of "men are not needed anymore" from women, and "if you don't get college degrees, you have no value in society" from teachers
My favorite line was this part:

"They used to graduate with a high school education and have good stable jobs," according to Carol Graham, senior fellow of economic studies at the Brookings Institution. "Since then, due to technology-driven growth and a little bit due to Chinese competition, you've had a lot of manufacturing firms and the places where they were located that were one-horse towns become ghost lands."

Only a little bit, it seems like we hardly make anything here these days.

I work in the industrial finishing industry. Back in the early 90s we had almost 50 employees. Today we have 6. China is the juggernaut but manufacturing has gone to many places. Much of it has left the USA.
