Actually, the far left is currently really upset with Obama for not doing more to control guns. The left wing website Politico just posted an editorial yesterday condemning Obama for being too soft on guns. They claim that he could be doing a lot through Executive Orders to control guns more. They urged him to use the Civil Rights Act to justify taking steps, claiming that minorities are hit harder by gun violence.
So political pressure from the far left is being put on Obama to act:

Uhhhh.... Yeah, 99.99% by their OWN HANDS!!!
Quote from the OP link:
"And if you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it's less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it's in the tens of thousands," Obama continued.
Didn't stop him from spending how many millions to combat said terrorism?
And how many of those tens of thousands were:
1. legit shoots and needed killing?
2. victims that were left defenseless by bs gun control laws?
Well, if you look at their stats, they can only reach those high numbers by counting suicide as being "gun violence". And the vast majority of gun deaths are actually suicides. And they are often by elderly people who are seriously ill and suffering, and simply want to end their life of pain.
With all of the advances in medicine, Americans are living much longer than ever. However, what is often not taken into consideration is the quality of that person's life. New drugs and medical procedures may be keeping many more person alive longer. But that does not necessarily mean that the quality of the person's life is any good.
Many people are probably not aware that the AARP is in favor of banning ANY gun ownership by the elderly, because of this suicide problem. That is their solution for the issue.
.
The other factor that is often overlooked is the per capita rate of homicide. The US population is now a whopping 321,395,000 people. That is over 100 million more people than we had in 1976. When we look at the homicide rate, the rate back in 1976 was actually much higher than it is today.
So a person is actually much safer now. Part of the reason why the numbers are currently so high is simply that our nation now has far more people.
But the far left wants to convince everyone that violence is SKYROCKETING. That we have a CRISIS, when none actually exists. That is the BIG LIE that is being repeated over and over again by gun control advocates.

I would like to use this chart. Do you have references where the data came from?
