Most NY Safe Act arrests so far for crimes that pre-date new gun laws | syracuse.com
Not that New York would jump the gun or anything.
You'll remember the dust up - ban of high capacity magazines - those over 7 rds. "Assault Weapons" etc.
A few of the arrestees listed were prematurely charged. 7 people were charged .. a requirement that doesn't go into effect until next year.
The majority were already crimes, although perhaps different - ie 864 were charged -- new felony, old misdemeanor

"-Nearly 1,000 people have been charged under the NY Safe Act in the eight months since the tougher gun control law was passed, according to the state's Division of Criminal Justice Services.
[At least some portions] .. in the law isn't actually enforceable until Jan. 15. [2014] "
