Mainly target shooting, some hunting, and my eyes are 70 years old? Maybe long range shooting with Vanguard 308 if the end of the world comes with zombies. I think there is a $100.00 dollar difference in purchasing non-illumination vs illumination. Would illumination work in freezing weather in an elk hunt?

Scope is very impressive! I was originally looking for a $400 scope but the Black FX 1000 was about 160 more and worth it because of the brightness and clarity. I would do it again on this type of rifle which was set up for target shooting or secondary hunting but the rifle/scope combo is 10 pounds. I am thinking that hunting scopes will be 4-6 ounces liter. Thanks for asking.
