Latest (today, actually) was 20th in queue, and it took about twenty minutes....I went about five blocks down the corner and had a quick beer and they called me before I was done with my beer....could have been fifteen minutes actually.

It hasn't seemed to make any difference from before I had my Oregon CHL and after....always about the same, give or take.

Nor, it appears, any difference between Portland city limits (this one) and Beaverton (where I usually do the transfers). Dunno why that would make a difference, but just in case some nurd is compiling data!

Reporting in that the queue continues to be nice and low. Another instant for me today. Get your guns while the gettin' is good!

I have NO idea why I didnt buy one of these sooner- freaking AP5-SD!! Since I suppress everything now, it just seemed like the right thing to do.

Also, I am just trying to be cool and keep up with @ilikegunspdx and his AP5-SD!! ;-)

Yeah, today was about fifteen minutes....plus it was a pretty crappy pawn shop (the dude was like spelling out the 4473 like I was an idiot and had never filled the form out before), so not much to look at in the meantime. Way overpriced used handguns, a few beat-up power tools, and like four or five guitar amplifiers. A nice looking acoustic with a florentine cutaway that was pretty cheap, with some kind of electric pick-up gear built in.....wonder what was wrong with it? But no, all behind the counter.

No holsters, no cheap mags, no ammo even.

I don't quite believe all this "instant approval" bull-pucky....are you people serious? I'm in Washington County and have a CHL, ODL, all that....

If one gets an instant approval, I'd guess one should play the lottery that day!

Hey, I should have played the lottery yesterday when I found a recoil spring plug after launching it yesterday! :D

Haha - the recoil spring plug find is BY FAR the biggest luck! I literally have a couple packs of those "AR extra parts kits" sitting in a drawer, because too many times I have launched something, and you are never going to find it. I dont even try anymore, I just go grab a back up part lol!

Dig this: it landed perfectly upright behind an old cardboard whiskey cylinder I hold pens and pencils in on one my desks at home.

Yeah, I've been keeping spares for anything and everything now. Not that I'm unsafe: I'm just stupid!

It's not cooordination: I do good at music instruments and women and such, but just one false move and that thing is in orbit!

Getting better at it though.

For some of us, instant approval is the norm. Happens to me quite literally all the time. It doesn't have to do with CHL's. The way it works is if you get instant approvals, you'll (almost) always get instant approvals. And if you don't routinely get instant approvals, you pretty much never will.

The biggest factor seems to be having an unusual name.

Makes sense.

Didn't mean to be all sour grapes....yes, I have a very unusual name, but it happens that I'm the fourth person in Oregon to have that same name (no, I don't have a private income....just my father and so forth weren't that imaginative!....and it's a fairly common name among Cajuns and so forth).

No, I don't think I can even legally change my name so I'm the "First!" without screwing a bunch of records up.

Well, I would have settled for Dweezil or something, but, sometimes the balls roll for funny for everybody.

Not only that, but the current legal situation is that Measure 114 wont be implemented until 2028 if at all. (Tee Hee). That makes people relax a bit about the urgency to buy guns.

I think some confusion comes from the fact that CHL's used to matter. It used to be that CHL holders went to the front of the queue. So if 10 people were in the queue and you got in line as a CHL-holder and no one else was one, you'd jump to #1 in line.

It became a problem during the extreme height of panic buying queue when the queue got to like 30,000 with a couple thousand of them being CHL holders. So many CHL holders were jumping to front that non-CHL holders could wait for days and actually move backwards in line. So they abandoned the idea of prioritizing CHL-holders in favor of the current system where people with unique names tend to get instant approvals and everyone else goes into the queue in the order their BGC was submitted.

In theory now that the queue seems to rarely go above 30 or so anymore, they could go back to prioritizing CHL's… but I don't see that happening.

I have one of those too, glad hes just a half brother and we have different last names
I'd gladly trade, I'm sure he would gladly give you his bank account numbers so you can just direct deposit without even talking to him. That way he can travel around the world without the burden of working like the rest of us. Sorry about the rant but my brother is a real POS, and costing us all money while stealing from my enabler mother.

I wrote mine off years ago, meth took him down a dark road. Not sure he's even still alive. Best of luck to you
