Sounds like Cabela's hasn't changed. It has been awhile since I bought a gun from Bi-Mart, but the folks at Cascade Farm their sister store did the same earlier this year. Sadly, I have become so conditioned to it, I was very (pleasantly) surprised at Sportsman's Warehouse last month when the guy pushed a button at the back counter, handed me my guns and told me I was good to go. Nobody gave me a second glance when I walked out the front door.
Yah, bought a few handguns this year at Sportsmans. Easiest for what they are vs having them shipped in to our local preferred gun shop.

Counter clerk just wrapped some red tape around the cases & good to go. Downside to Sportsmans is the number of checks they do, so the time is excruciating. What should be a 10-15 minute transaction is easily an hour.

Coastal Farm & Ranch? Easy peasy.

NICS current wait this afternoon was very short, only about 20 people in the queue. Sold a P365 to a friend, who ended up in the queue but was quickly approved.

I was not PLANNING on buying a new gun today . . . but . . . We were at Highline, they had just gotten this Mauser C96 Broomhandle in on consignment. Guy had just dropped it off 2 hours prior, and I just had to have it! It is rough, but that is fine by me, I actually like the rough worn out look- means it has seen some things! Now to decide if I keep it as is, or modify it to match Han Solos blaster in Star Wars . . . Heh - sacrilege? ;-) Instant approval for me and it came home to the Panic Room . . .

And THEN they give you the ol walk of shame out the door like you're a criminal
I bought a rossi trapper model .30-30 at Bass Pro about three weeks ago, didn't get the walk of shame but they taped up the box pretty tight in red tape indicating that it was paid for. I did get the walk of shame at bi-mart when I bought my .45 acp

The date they gave you of 12/13 is most likely way off by like a year minimum. Also they are not so good about returning messages. Also you can pass and get your CHL and still get delayed by the firearms background check. I've been through it and it took 14 months, a lawyer and two trips to OSP headquarters to get it all sorted out after I has been issued my CHL.
My delay ended up being 3 days, bi-mart failed to call me for another 3 days. I have done 3 purchases since then with no problems

Yesterday I entered the que at 14 and it was noon.
So lunch time for the paper processors.
It only took about 30 minutes though.

This was at BiMart in Scappoose and I was too walked out to the door to receive my new rifle.

Reporting in that the queue remains nice and low as of this am. Treat yourself to that special Gat for Christmas now!! ;-). Im worth it, are YOU worth it? ;-)

Picked up this OG Isreali Micro Uzi - appears very little wear, full box/papers etc. What a neat pice of history and pop culture!! IMG_0159.jpeg

Oddly ended up in the queue this afternoon. Good news is there was only 10 other poor souls there with me in the queue, so it went fast and approved in minutes. . .

I am guessing it MIGHT have been due to the weapon name that was attached to the NICS check . . . as they most likely dont see a Browning M1919A4 come through too often!! Thanks @.45's and .38's for the awesome and smooth transaction- you all know she will have a very good new home in my Panic Room.

(Tiny boring M249 SAW in the background. You know, for scale . . . :) )
