I know people doing individual tax stamps have been living it up in recent months what with the automated processing of NFA applications, but we poor plebes on trusts have been stuck with hand approved paperwork with no word on when or if we were getting the new streamlined permission slips. But I just had an interesting occurrence; I got 4 cans approved in one batch. The really interesting part is that these cans have been in purgatory for wildly different amounts of time. One was coming up on 5 months, while another was submitted late last week. So is this the start of efficient automated processing for all us trust babies, or did some ATF agent just have pity on me and pull all my paperwork in one batch when my oldest can bubbled up to be next in line? I do need to order a .45 cal can as soon as one becomes available in inventory, but now I want to know if I can expect to have it approved in a week, or if I am going to be in another months-long wait. Anyone have an info on this?

I'll bite..... I've had 7 cans approved, using SS single shot unlimited trust, all in roughly 3 months. My buddy, also used SS trust, got his in 6 months. My neighbors just picked up a can last week. They went with a traditional trust. 3 people on it. Took them 10 months......

Single shot trusts are one individual trust per each nfa item.
Did you have multiple trustees on each trust?

It was my understanding that the single shot trusts were all lumped in with the individual processing since those do not have the complexity of ownership that a regular trust has. Am I misunderstanding that assessment? I have heard of people who said they were using SSTs that were approved in days to weeks recently, which seems to be more in line with the automated processing.

I have a single traditional trust for me and the wife, with my kid as beneficiary, so I have been resigned to the longer wait times for everything I have been wanting to get. Between SBRs and cans my stamp collection has grown to double digits, but some of those were form 1s, and those have a different approval process despite going onto the same trust as everything else. The form 4s were taking months each, and until this batch were always approved singly at roughly the same cadence. This is the fist time I have seen a batch approval, and with extremely short approval times (relatively speaking) for two of them to boot. I see zero news on this but if, in theory, they just got the automation working this week it will take a few more days for people on trusts to start noticing faster approval times. I am hoping someone here has the inside scoop and can give a definitive answer.

My understanding is that they will/have started batch processing of trusts like they did with individual.

Interesting. Five months isn't bad for a Form 4 on Trust. Every one of those I've done took an eternity (9—14 months). eForm 1s were faster though.

My trust is not one of the shotgun trusts, One trust with all cans and SBR etc into it.
Submitted through Capitol Armory November 13
Approved January 28

Just had an eForm4 (trust) go through in 16 days, and it got approved on a Saturday morning. Submitted 6 Feb, Approved 22 Feb.
Just submitted another one today, 27 Feb.

Edit: If you have a stamp approved on your trust within the last 24 months, you DO NOT need to submit your full trust. There is a 24 month exemption letter you can attach, make sure it has the last date of your stamp, and the serial number of the item.

Do not be a dumbo like me and include it anyway in addition to the cover letter - atf will see it as a standard application. I included it thinking the examiners had critical thinking skills....

I've had 6 go through on my trust.
Additional context: Trust = myself as grantor, and 2x different trustees.
Using the Silencer Shop process.

1st 2x =16 days from payment to in hand
2nd 2x = 30 days from payment to in hand
Recent 2x = 30 days from payment to in hand

So, plan for 2 months and you'll be pleasently surprised.

Bought a Mossberg 590A1 Class 3 shot gun and certified it 4/13. Got the approval email this morning, 4/20, SBS

Putting this here for visibility to those that are considering an SBR but are not browsing the NFA subforums.

Last Friday after hours I entered a Form 1 SBR for my NFA trust. It was approved at 7:00 AM this morning. This is effectively a two business day turnaround. It appears that suppressors are not the only NFA items that are getting quick turnaround times.

Note that I already had my electronic fingerprints and passport photo ready to upload along with receiver picture.

If you are thinking about an SBR as opposed to a pistol brace this is the time.

I just bought my second suppressor in a month.
After submission of papers via silencer shop - 24-hour approval on each purchase. WOW!

A cautionary note - parts for suppressors are on backorder almost everywhere! Wait times of six to eight months.
Threaded barrels, other than 9mm, are difficult/impossible to find online.
