my sister found this photo of my father with his 1911 in 1944
he's the skinny 2nd LT in the center
carried it through WW2, Korea and Vietnam (B52 - Arclight)
don't know what happened to it, but he still had it, or one like it in 1968 when he was an 0-5
it's probably one of the 1911 the NRA will sell off this year
I purchased a S.A. Mil Spec 1911 for my son to have in his memory
