Is any of this legal back and forth keeping criminals from acquiring guns or using guns to commit crimes?

...oh....that's right.....none of this was aimed at criminals.

Never mind.....carry on.
You are correct. This legislation is not about making us safer or reducing crime. We already have the laws in place to do just that, but the powers that be refuse to enforce those laws. Currently they are hiding behind "lack of funding" when they seem to have money for everything else. Crime will never be addressed until we have a new regime with the will to act.

This legislation does two things. First it gives the false impression that we are doing something about crime and safety to distract from the fact that the authorities are avoiding doing just that using our existing laws and tools.

Second it further adjusts the balance of power from the law abiding citizens to the authorities. It help to further the progressive goal of elevating the state over the people as opposed to the other way arpund as our state and US Constitutions had intended.

We are headed further along the path of the soft tyranny on our way to a hard tyranny. The frog thermometer is currently somewhere in the uncomfortably hot temperature range.

I believe they can argue that the delay for the BGC is so they can search social media and ask friends about the purchasers frame of mind. It's an attempt to weed out those that have expressed an interest in harming themselves or others like we've seen in some mass murders. The truth is that we already have red flag laws and anyone can report someone at any time. The reality is that the delays allow any fishing expedition into anyone's background. The J6 investigations are an example of what the government can and will do whenever it pleases. We also know that they won't investigate any person's juvenile record, and that's where they could have seen that someone may have malicious intent, or at least is telegraphing disturbing thoughts.

It all comes down to bogus arguments in the name of "doing something, even if it's wrong". If they're going to stomp on someone's rights, it won't be those with criminal intent, it'll be on the law abiding citizens. Hell, Kate Brown was applauded for commuting death sentences for the worst of the murders, and gave them the opportunity for parole. That should give you an idea of the lefts real intent.

This is not an easy fight. They have unlimited funding available to them and are using our tax dollars to hire some of the most expensive lawyers in the state.

Nah, life without parole

Gov. Kate Brown announced Tuesday that she would commute the sentences of all 17 individuals on Oregon's death row to life in prison without the possibility of parole

As it turns out, Democrats lied again. Some are eligible for parole. The left seem to favor criminals while openly showing their disdain of the Constitution, including but not limited to the 2nd Amendment.

From the article;
"Governor-elect Kotek is personally opposed to the death penalty because of her religious beliefs, so this decision is generally aligned with her values,"

So that worthless twat has already done away with any pretense of representation in favor of her "beliefs". Sad days for Oregon.:(:(

Not aimed at existing criminals but perhaps at creating new ones???????????????????????????????

If you are a criminal you can be denied your rights.

Good point.

Merry Christmas to all!

Jan 3, ruling/opinion letter will:
a) Sever the 3-day release from the TRO. 3-day releases will no longer be possible in Oregon (not likely IMO)
or
b) Keep the 3-day release in the TRO. 3-day release can continue to happen in Oregon (most likely IMO) until the hearing regarding constitutionality of the measure
👍 Thanks for clarifying.

Oregonians need to support efforts in Washington and vice-versa. We are in this together. The strategy used by gun control is divide and conquer and it's working. We need to stand firm together.
