For those that don't click, the man called the police reporting fighting & shots fired outside. Police arrive, find damage outside and hear fighting in the home. They kick in the door and start to clear the house. From the article:
Turning the corner of an L-shaped hallway, the officer finds a shirtless Mr Durham wrestling over a knife with a woman wearing a ski mask, later identified as 31-year-old Alejandra Boudreaux.

Mr Bookman yells, "hey, drop the knife, drop the knife", seconds before firing a shot that hit Mr Durham and sent him and Ms Boudreaux to the ground.

Mr Bookman then fires five more shots at Mr Durham and says "put your hands up", body-worn camera footage released by police showed.

Mr Durham was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms Boudreaux was arrested and charged with four counts, including home invasion with a deadly weapon.
Screenshot from the body cam shows what the officer saw on arrival.

Not gonna click on jack sh1t.

You either handle business, and then call 911, or you retreat to a safe room, cower in silence, call 911 and wait until there's a response.

Don't be that guy in action when the gendarmerie arrives; it rarely turns out well.

(I speak as one who's responded to a few dynamic situations... when the adrenaline's pumping, the decision-making process is interrupted, don't take that risk)

Either way, this one will result in yet another big lawsuit brought by the aggrieved family / estate of the deceased. These lawsuits have become a lucrative, major legal industry.

WOW. A good reminder that when we see a scene it's hard to tell sometimes who is the good guy vs bad guy. I recall one time in Limerick Ireland a setup where two men appeared to be assaulting a girl. I had been warned by others that area was sketchy. I drove by and then circled back a few minutes later. They re-staged the exact same scene but in a slightly different place. No guns are allowed in Ireland so they were apparently intending on robbing whoever came to the damsel in distress's rescue.

So which one was the bad guy? Based on the pic from the body cam, I would assume it's the guy with the hoodie on, but you never know

This is why there's always a projectile launcher either on my person or within arms reach. Cap the perp, let the police come mop up the mess, lest your family/estate be playing the wrongful death game…

It's not my place to judge, just arrange the meeting…

Man that sucks.

But you have got to get the weapons out of your hands when the cops show up. Or if you're in the middle of actually fighting for your life, better start yelling that you are the homeowner and not to shoot. That is an absolute cluster Eff of a situation. But if your plan is to hope that the cops either don't shoot you or that they guess the right person to shoot...that is probably the last plan you will ever make.

Good luck...and may the odds be ever in your favor.

All too true, I believe.

Ugh. The whole sordid mess is here.

The suspect and homeowner knew each other and the suspect was returning from the airport where her ticket was declined for being purchased by the homeowner with a stolen credit card. The suspect was transgender and suicidal and got into the house by breaking a window with a propane tank where she retrieved knives from the kitchen.

So basically, the suspect wanted the police to kill her but the police ended up killing the homeowner instead.
