Bought a ap5 during the 114 panic and it needs to go in for warranty. Century gave me a shipping label for me directly to ship it out through fedex not my ffl. Is it legal or normal for me to walk into fedex with the label and ship it off and ship it back? Never needed to warranty a firearm before.

Yes.
Presumably the manufacturer/importer has done their due diligence with FedEx and the shipping end of firearms. Just box it up and drop it off. I've sent a few SIGs back to New Hampshire in just this fashion.

Yes, but box it up yourself real good befor you take it to fed ex.

Note, some fedex stores may not know they can ship guns to ffls but they can. I had one lady kinda freak out once. Your required to declare its a gun but sometimes they dont know to ask...

SIG's instructions to me have always insisted that I do not indicate on the package what happens to be inside. The notification requirement, such as it is, was, presumably, satisfied at the time the label was generated.

When I was the shipper, on the single occasion where I was sending a pistol, it was necessary to tell them what was in the box. But when I am merely delivering a box to the carrier the responsibility falls on thems who made the label.

If I recall its a federal law to declare if its a gun.
But it also very well could be a shipping label generated by an FFL might also show its a gun to fedex. I dont know though.

I had to send my M14 back for warranty repairs a few years back. My M14 came in large plastic case and cardboard box. UPS knew it was a long gun right away.it when I sent back to be repaired.

Did they make someone sign for it when it was dropped back off to you or let you pick it up from the distribution center. Id hate for it to get dropped off a few doors down or worse.

Drop it off at a FedEx hub, not an independent owned shipping store.
i just shipped off a sub machine gun and took it to the Portland PDX airport hub center.
They'll give you a receipt after they take possession.
No questions asked.

To add to this it looks like there is a law that packages cant show there is a gun inside. 27 CFR § 478.31(b) link below so I can see why Sig insisted since it was their shipping label.

To clarify this the federal laws are 18 U.S. Code § 922 and 27 CFR 478.31(a)
"No person shall knowingly deliver or cause to be delivered to any common or contract carrier for transportation or shipment in interstate or foreign commerce to any person other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, any package or other container in which there is any firearm or ammunition without written notice to the carrier that such firearm or ammunition is being transported or shipped"

I suppose if one has a shipping label from an FFL it can be argued either way I guess but there is the laws for everyone to decide for themselves.

I've shipped several for warranty repairs to three or four different manufacturers over the years. Both rifles and handguns. Packaged them good, used a shipping label the manufacture provided. Dropped them at a FedEx or UPS hub. Once the work was done, they shipped them back to me. Either delivered to me signature required at my residence, or I picked them up at the hub.

Just follow the instructions that Century provided along with the shipping label and as mentioned earlier take the package to a FedEx Hub, not the nearest neighborhood FedEx store.

Ive shipped warranty guns from the nearest FedEx store. I called the manager in advance just to be sure he said no problem with an FFL shipping label. Ive had more than one warranty gun (sadly) so I just kept using that store. The only issue one time was one clerk who froze up when I quietly old them I was shipping a gun. It kinda made a scene while I had to ask for the manager to help who took care of it quickly.
