The last few topics we've had like this haven't ended well, so please if you're going to comment please keep it respectful and let's be excellent to each other.

Thank you in advance...

The problem with the state of politics right now is that there are many, many center and libertarian folks that don't prescribe to either party. People's views are more complex than what a two party system can provide.

Is it mutually exclusive that someone would believe in state run healthcare but also believe in the right to self defense? Where would you put that person, politically?

I'll use myself as an example. I'm very libertarian in most things. Our healthcare system in this country is atrocious. Insurance being for-profit doesn't sit well with me at a moral level and the way we handle patents doesn't allow for drugs to hit the generic market after a time as effectively as it could. I don't think we should socialize medicine, nor do I think we should remove the government entirely. There are people that need help in this country and we should help them.

I believe in a balanced budget, something both parties no longer care about. I also think that we could be using the tax code and tax law to better incentivize nuclear families and small business.

You're going to have a tough time putting me into a box. Classical Liberal / Libertarian comes close, except on some key issues.

Essentially, I'm just pretty darn good at disagreeing about something with everyone. Which is why I prefer to just shut up and shoot ;-).

But, back to the topic...Yes, I think that it is perfectly possible for someone to lean left but also be very caring about 2A. They may not be the norm...

Read the article and agree with them on most things gun related. The thing they don't get is that compromise is simply giving their rights away a grain of sand at a time. They at least get that the tool doesn't do the killing that the person does the killing. The only other thing they miss is that one of the main differences between the politics of the left vs right is that the left believes the ends justify the means. Unfortunately for them this means they will eventually get tossed under the bus, though I gotta say the right isn't far behind..

There is a difference between liberals and the leftists

Check out the video about on PragerU on YouTube

If folks from both sides of the aisle demanded that all current gun laws be enforced, we'd have no need for any further encroachment.

^ Indeed, very much so. I know from my own political and philosophical outlook, it isn't even close.

Paradox, deceit, or lack of maturation still leaves me untrusting towards folk of similar ilk for It does not seem honest or genuine to say "I want", while everything else they do thwarts it.

I had no idea o_O !.....
…. there are Liberal guns ? …..
….. and, someone would actually OWN one ??
.... and, then they need to join a support group ?

( I imagine those are probably the guns that the Media/politicians are always talking about. Y'know, those guns that like to kill people without their owners' input....….. maybe we should just ban those Liberal guns?)

it's really not that difficult to enjoy guns while supporting any political party, you are allowed to pick and choose the issues you support or do not support within your chosen party. Not going to jail or getting shot for that is a pretty nice freedom we have.

It only seems to confuse and agitate those who assume you're supposed to believe and vote straight down the party line, whichever party that happens to be.

There is a Socialist Rifle Association, and pro LGBTQ gun groups like Pink Pistols and Armed Equality. Its laughably fake news to assume all liberals or leftists hate guns.

Except one party made it official and put GC on the list of official party planks on its official site. Like it or not, a vote for that party is a vote for GC until that changes.

That doesnt mean they dont like guns. But it's in the way I like camping and hiking. A hobby to be discarded for other "more important" issues.

I'll take it I guess, but pardon me if I'm not overwhelmed.

OMG.....look at all them lever actions.

Rrrright. The assault weapon of the 1800s.

Don't get me wrong.....own them if you like. But, don't tell me that I can't have my semi-auto (AR, FN FAL, AK, etc...). It means what it says, "......shall not be infringed".

The major concern these days is that the classic parties no longer exist, the Dems have gone full left rudder to socialism and are spending outside the limits of income! The Repubs have lost all worth, they have allowed themselves to be marginalized and made impotent, all the while on the take for what ever powet and wealth they can take! Gone are the days when tje two parties could sit down and hash things out and make deals that truely benefited all, now its a sh!t show writ large, and its out of control! There is only ONE partynow , the socialists party, and until a major change happens, this is what our future looks like!

Not all liberals are Democrats.
Most leftists are not Democrats.
Many people across the political spectrum don't support every plank in their registered party.
There are pro-gun control Republicans that do and will turn on 2A when politically expedient.
Fascinating to see how many conservative snowflakes there are on gun forums. :s0064:

If you're a 2A supporter, it is simply nonsensical to vote for/support politicians who are putting in a deliberate effort to try in strip you of your rights/property. Period.

I really can't say bad things about these people. I understand the irony behind it but the fact of the matter is, they're engaged. Do I like their politics? Of course not. They likely don't agree with mine.
