I don't know if anyone else has heard this from their FFL but if WA doesn't get a budget passed firearm transfers involving pistol could be stopped on July 1, 2017 because DOL will not be processing them. This lack of a budget is crap and I 594 has caused a huge headache for little benefit I think for legal gun owners.

The DOL website has the notice posted: WA State Licensing (DOL) Official Site: Contact us - Firearms Program

Well, there's always the recall option... Those who don't want to be taxed without representation do have ways of removing the undesired politicians from their perches...

Such actions send strong messages...

Perhaps it's time...

"When In Doubt... Throw 'Em Out."

The problem is this budget mayhem starts at WA Supreme Court, who says "'Fully Fund Education' means you have to do whatever our extortionist terrorist pals at WEA say whether you can actually afford it or not"... said Court being a fully bought-and-paid-for WEA subsidiary.

Until we can change that Bench, our odds of things getting anything BUT worse are approximately comparable to those of me sprouting a second pecker and having a successful career in the porn industry.

That started with gregoir. "Use tax"
I still get mad when I think about how she stole the election from Dino Rossi in '04. 3 recounts? come on:mad:
You know Rossi was able to close a nearly $3 billion state deficit without raising taxes when he served on the senate! Imagine how much better off WA would be had he been given the win he rightfully deserved.

Yea, it's a federal BGC nothing to do with the State.

With CPL, it's a federal check only. Without a CPL, it's a local check. This only applies to handguns.

Still though, DOL has nothing to do with background checks as those are run by local police and sheriffs, so I have no idea why a DOL shutdown would also shut down pistol sales. The dealer does have to send a copy of the pistol transfer application to DOL, but last I read, DOL was years behind on processing those anyway.

The McCleary Decision is killing this state right now, and I cannot understand why it has never been challenged.

I don't blame the Courts. I blame our 100% incompetent Washington state legislature.

School funding can be solved, but they need to correctly make sure the money gets to schools and to kids. Too many school districts are starting to get "top heavy", meaning you have these district-level administrators who sit in their fancy offices all day and collect 6 figure salaries without helping kids. It's analogous to this big companies, with their fat-cat CEOs collecting million dollar paychecks even while the company is failing and mid-level workers are busting their arse for small pay.

Public education is the foundation of our democracy, but WA state, a "democratic state", sucks at it.

Amen to that! My daughter is doing color guard next year, and they want over $400 out of my pocket to pay for uniforms, travel, and a whole list of other stuff. I can't afford that! They sent home a budget plan, which is acceptable, but even with $400 from each kid they still have to do fund raisers this summer to have enough for the year. I was in the drum corps back in the early 90's, and my parents didn't have to pay anything besides their taxes. After school activities, and sports are extremely importaint for kids social development. Now more than ever... most kids nowadays are content staring into a brick all day. Anything that gets them outside, active, and learning responsability is tax money well spent.... I'd say keep them out of trouble too, but like I said, I was in the drum corps... I know better;)

Then they'll tax every square inch at ridiculous Downtown Seattle rate.

This is whats funny about that. Property values being what they are in King and Snohomish County, they would end up essentially funding the states education system.

If you have an unnamed 3A school in king county and use the levy system, that is evened out among a bunch of residents. You have a 3A school in another county like Mason, fewer residents pay for the same size school because population density. So, their tax rate has to be higher to fund the school.

If you remove all the levies and tax everyone at a flat rate dispersed amongst everyone, it actually makes the tax rate go down for low density areas.

This is why the Democrats are fighting this. Their constituents in Pierce/King/Snohomish would see an increase.

I'd say that talking about school funding is off topic... but when you take $400 out of my family's budget it absolutely effects my gun purchasing!

Because the McCleary decision is from the Washington Supreme Court interpreting the Washington State Constitution. The Washington Supreme Court is the final authority on state constitutional issues. The federal courts have no ability to review those decisions. Thus, there is nowhere to "challenge" it.
