Off the top of my head and pre- coffee....I'd check out the ideas that Ura-Ki and Certaindeaf tossed out.

Here are some pictures of this Lachmiller block. The block handle grooves mic at .255" . I dont remember where or when I got it, but I obviously sandblasted it at that time. I now want to build some 38's and 357's and could use another mold but gotta have a couple of handles.
