We don't ask baseball umpires about their team choices as fans, or whether they like the infield fly rule before we hire them to officiate games. That's because despite a team preference, or a dislike of the infield fly rule, umpires are supposed to rule on plays impartially and according to the rules as written.

It makes no sense to ask questions about similarly personal preferences when confirming a USSC justice. Like the umpire, he or she is supposed to rule on the law as written and without personal bias being applied. That these people would ask such questions speaks to their mindset. It is THEY who would pick justices based on a preconceived, personally desirable outcome. This expectation that the law will be bent to suit personal views is what drives all the fear and panic on the part of the Democrats. They expect other people to do it because that is what they would do given the opportunity.

Kavanaugh is perhaps the best qualified nominee for Supreme Court justice in the history of the institution. His appointment should be completely unremarkable and his confirmation automatic.
