Interesting.

This is why voting matters. Not voting because no candidate is perfect is not an option if you want to maintain your rights. Voting for a nearly perfect 3rd party candidate who can't win is not an option if you want to maintain your rights. The "antis" are in it for the long run - they will never give up trying to take away our rights - and not just gun rights, but all the others as well.

Think BIG here folks, this is flat out Genius, Kash Patel is already confirmed by congress, so no drama there! Second, he is already in position to take things over when they get rid of the ATF and fold what's left over into the FBI, which puts Kash in the perfect position to dismantle it!

As to Pam Bondi, you need to remember ONE thing about her: As Attorney General of the State of Florida, her JOB was to vigorously support and enforce state laws, weather or not she her self believes in it or not, she cannot allow herself to become personally vested in those things, she was only doing her job!
Moving forward, She is now doing exactly what her new Boss, Mr. Donald J, Trump President of the United States of America has ordered her to do, she took the job after talking it through with him at length, she knew full well what he would be asking her to do, and to defend, and she agreed to take it anyway, SO,..........

Only time will tell. I hope you're right though.

Feeling cynical here. I do not think Congress will allow NFA, GCA, FOPA Hughes Amendment to be repealed, even in sections. Also don't think Congress will allow the ATF to be dismantled/disbanded.

As long as the Senate Committee on Finance (including the Subcommittee on Taxation) have a significant number of anti-gun politicians, or at least politicians who have voted against the 2A in the past... Nothing is going to happen regarding NFA bills.

We don't even have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate thats pro2A. Anti2A, there seems to be an easy filibuster-proof majority due to a significant number of GOP Senators who voted to fund the ATF to deputize local/county LEOs in 2A Sanctuary States and voted to have the DOJ investigate every NICS Denial as a criminal investigation.

This is what I wonder about. Do executive orders trump (pun intended) acts of Congress? Just today I read online where Trump / Musk team of dismantlers are considering revoking the US Postal Service status as a semi-independent government corporation and reinstating it as a cabinet department. Back in 1970 when the Nixon administration and Congress made the change the other way around, it was a very big deal that took a lot of heavy lifting in Congress. Can these things legally be undone with an executive order?

I think Trump is taking symbolic actions. What he is trying to do is whip up public support for the changes so the House will include them in the funding legislation. Then the Senate can confirm them during Reconciliation without having to use Cloture (60 votes to proceed), thus preventing them from dying in the Senate.

That would be my guess. There may be some sort of consolidation in the offing, rather than out and out abolition.

Article 2 gives the President sole authority over the executive branch. We all know that Congress, through legislation, has usurped all kinds of powers reserved for the states or the people (10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.) This may set up some interesting Supreme Court cases as to just how much of this bloated federal government we are forced to pay for is actually constitutional.
