I believe former Rep. Matt Gaetz resigned from the 118th Congress. I could be wrong, but I haven't read that he has made an announcement in regard to the 119th Congress.

I believe he was reelected to the 119th Congress, and members will be sworn in Friday, January 3rd, 2025.

McCarthy was right you know..
A person can be correct in their position and still go about dealing with something in a horrendously wrong way. McCarthy turned a legitimate concern about infiltration and influence by a hostile foreign government into a massive witch hunt. Not only did it paint thousands of people with a big red brush simply for having differing political beliefs, it also undercut the legitimacy of actual counter-espionage efforts in the process. It became the boy who cried wolf - when everyone is a commie spy, nobody's a commie spy. And in all that noise, the real commie spies kept their heads down and probably laughed at the damage we did to ourselves.

If I was Brandon, I would pass, the ATF should be disbanded!
Trump is strongly pushing to get rid of several agencies, the IRS, Homeland, and others, that would be awesomeness!

Most agencies were created by Congress with out following the laws that govern their creation, and from what I'm seeing , Trump's team has found the loopholes that make it legal for him to shutter them, and Congress can do nothing to stop it! The IRS would be Major one to shut down, force the states and fed gov. to work within budgets and to play ball with Tariffs internationally, which this country did prior to 1912 with out a tax burden on the citizens, in other words, the nation made money in international trade and was self funding and solvent!
But 2024 is a far different world than 1912. I think the IRS should exist but the tax code should be simplified with rates similar to the 1950s and some incentive tax credits for children/dependents, small businesses, etc. What keeps the complex tax code in place is the tax accountant lobby (think H&R Block, TurboTax, etc.). Take the money out of politics and publicly fund elections and watch the special interests wither. I'd bet 99.99% of us can't afford our own D.C. lobbyists so that's why we get screwed.

And the ATF doesn't need to exist. States can regulate their alcohol and tobacco (like they already do) but need to back off on the "F" part of their name.

I have different feelings about different agencies.

lolz, yeah, I know I'm in the minority around here, but that isn't the part of the horse I see when I think of Musk :s0112:
Like most guys with a bank balance that size.

See my post in the thread about what you would do if you won the lottery: "It would be really hard to not turn into a grade A a-hole. So why fight it?"

As for Musk. If you were more conservative, you would appreciate the way he has somewhat turned the tables on X from being the liberal echo chamber that Twitter was. (I don't belong to either and never have, but I've clicked on a lot of "news" stories with clips embedded.)
