If guns are so bad, why are so many legally carrying them?

While the mainstream press continues beating the drum against Stand Your Ground laws – a cornerstone tenet of modern self-defense – the data suggests more people believe in personal safety responsibility, as the Denver Post reported today that concealed carry permits are increasing dramatically in the state that just adopted tough new gun laws.

Dave, you KNOW what it is... the Ivory Tower Eloi think us mere peon Morlocks are too stupid to know what's good for us, and need to be FORCED to live as they think we should "for our own good".

Well, I've read this book before... I seem to recall that the Morlocks win in the end.

I have found that Liberals are generally afraid. I have found this through many years of living in a town that makes San Fran look like The Bible Belt. I will give an example. My In-Laws live in the house my Mrs. grew up in, right next door to my house(that I grew up in. Not my current home.). Dad works at the post office, Mom stays home. Good family. The Mrs. has one older brother, 2 years her senior. When she graduated high school, they were going to move to the coast. But Dad couldn't get the transfer or whatever. Then, when Dad retired, they couldn't move the cats(?). Then when the cats died, they couldn't leave the Mrs. niece(their oldest of two grandchildren, our boy being the other) , because her parents aren't "the best"(or even "good"). Meanwhile, we left that horrible place and are carving out a real life on our own acreage in the middle of nowhere. It was scary leaving everything we knew. I lived my entire life in NE and inner SE Portland. A move out here was not(and still is not) without stress. In the end, I made the choice that I felt was best for my family. It wasn't easy, but I took our future into my hands and did it. The folks are still in their old house they've been "planning" to leave since the late '80's. Meanwhile, they also support gun control and do not own even an air rifle. To own a weapon is very scary. To take your own life into your hands and defend it scares the bubblegum out of the left. Guess how they vote?

I hope my story makes sense. The underlying fear of the left goes much further than guns. Just with my situation, what of forest fires? Bears? Cougars? Injuns? How can you leave the "safety" of the city? How can you carry a gun?

I guess when you do certain things, you can no longer point your finger and say "Where were you to defend me?". "How come no one protected me?". I won't point my finger. The buck in fact stops here. I can't blame anyone for my success or failure but ME.

You know what? I'm OK with that.

Much of the increase is fear Obama and his ilk will take them away. Also the fear of economic collapse and popular shows like Walking Dead and Jericho. Although the story lines deal with Zombies and Nuclear weapons, these shows give a glimpse of what WROL might be like. Not all the new gun owners are conservatives I'd guess and I hope they suspend their wishes for a more socialist America for the next couple of election cycles and vote pro-gun as a priority for a change!

Keep it up Dave. I know I've been critical of you on occasion, but you keep on going, as you should.

As an aggregate, you do an outstanding job of letting all of us know WE ARE NOT ALONE, which may be the most important service you provide. And yes, you hit the nail on the head a lot more often than not.
