Venezuela Declares Another Emergency: It Has Run Out of Food.......:s0092:

Venezuela’s opposition legislature has declared a “nutritional emergency,” proclaiming that the country simply does not have enough food to feed its population. The move comes after years of socialist rationing and shortages that forced millions to wait on lines lasting as long as six hours for a pint of milk, a bag of flour, or carton of cooking oil.

Just heard an interview with someone today who indicated that the "hoarders" were responsible for food shortages and they were implementing stringent safeguards to make sure that nobody could purchase more than their share.......
Anybody who could read the tea leaves and started saving food would be a hoarder.... Good times!!

Wow, I'm shocked. I didn't see this coming, Socialism is the cure for all of mankind's ills.
    How can this be?

SIKE. Hopefully Barry doesn't plan on bringing them here as refugees

Come on guys, Venezuela didn't get socialism right and that's why there is a problem. I'm sure when it gets here, our illustrious leaders will get it right...this time.

We have an acquaintance that is arguing that "democratic socialism" should not be confused with "regular socialism". She argues that democratic socialism does all the great things that capitalism does - great wages, high standard of living, free education, free healthcare, free everything, global happiness and eternal harmony - all while sticking it to the "man", where the "man" is anyone that makes more money than you.

I should mention, this gal is on permanent disability and relies on the government for everything, and handouts for what the government doesn't cover. It would seem, in her mind, that if we became truly socialist here, she would be living high on the hog while 'someone else' foots the bill.

And ther you have the crux of the matter....

Socialism (aka the "progressive" movement) simply makes the feeble-minded comfortable in their weakness.

The truth is that this has been taught in public education, the liberal indoctrinating of our youth. Many young people nowadays just are too damn lazy to work!!!

Ever hear of John Dewey, the most important reformer in American education?

"You can't make Socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent."
    -- John Dewey

How about Albert Shanker, once president of the American Federation of Teachers?

"It's time to admit that public education operates like a planned economy, a bureaucratic system in which everybody's role is spelled out in advance and there are few incentives for innovation and productivity. It's no surprise that our school system doesn't improve: It more resembles the communist economy than our own market economy"
    -- Albert Shanker

    Then there is Karl Marx:

"The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from the bourgeoisie, to centralise all instruments of production in the hands of the State, i.e., of the proletariat organised as the ruling class; and to increase the total productive forces as rapidly as possible.... Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property....
Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.
    1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
    2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
    10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, &c, &c."
    -- Karl Marx, "Communist Manifesto"

What makes Venezuela a perfect example of failure is they're sitting on one of the worlds largest oil reserves. They could just pump money if they would re-invest in the oil rigs they stole/nationalized. Cuba has reserves too. FAIL!

Ever known guys who couldn't get to work because they were too broke to keep their vehicle running?
