Adjust the rear eye piece so the cross hairs are sharp at what distance for a 270? I think this model has a fixed 150 yard parrelax setting? So, if zeroed in at 150 yards the off focus at 300 would be 40mm????

The ocular lens adjustment has nothing to do with parallax. Because people refer to both as focus, it gets confusing. As was already said, the eye piece adjustment is just to get the reticle in focus FOR YOUR EYES. To actually adjust the parallax on a fixed parallax scope would require adjusting the other lens, and is usually trial and error, assuming the manufacturer didn't make it impossible by glueing everything together. If you feel the need for adjustable parallax, better to buy a scope that has it built in.

I read somewhere that fixed parallax does not make a huge difference for distances less than 250 yards. It seems most of the scopes in that price range ($2-$250) don't have a parallax adjustment. I was looking at the Vortex Diamondback and it has the same fixed parallax as the VX Freedom.

Most scopes with a top end power of 12 and under will not have parallax adjustment. Most that are over 12x will have parallax adjustment.

Parallax is fixed.

Parallax is the distance of perfect focus of crosshairs and optic at s given distance.

The eye piece focus is adjustable.
