As I read the bill, it allows the release of information to bona fide news reporters ONLY as it pertains to an individual who is a CHL holder and has been charged with a crime. That would preclude the release of such information en mass.

Also, anyone can be "charged" with a crime, even if they have done nothing.

The Bill passed the House and Senate. Now all that needs to be done is have Kitzhaber sign it. I sent him an email asking him to do so. In return I told him I would contribute to a fund to buy him a new pair of slacks so he wouldn't have to wear his John Denver jeans.

Also, anyone can be "charged" with a crime, even if they have done nothing.

If they can release it because someone was just charged, doesn't that violate the person's 5th amendment rights ("...without due process of law" ie a trail)
