Destroying the economy, driving up costs. You have George Soros spending millions to put worthless inept DAs in power to put the criminals back on the street.

Individual identity was for a long time tied to a broader American cultural identity with established norms. There were benchmarks and expectations for how a normal person should behave and live their life. The new subjective sense of self, seeks to throw off any form of "oppression/oppressor". This is an outgrowth of Leninist ideas. Nothing new to be sure, but after 2-3 generations of indoctrination in public schools and Hollywood these ideas have taken root in government.

People just do whatever they want anymore. That's the short answer. The results are there for all to see.

If they keep them locked up there isn't the need. The courts know who the problem people are. If they are on parole or probation already no need for Stop and frisk. The police already have the authority to do so.

Some parents hate their kid for no legitimate cause. Such as because their kid was born a girl. Or reminds them of their own hated parent. Or because they didn't want the responsibility of a kid then or at all. There are plenty of abused kids. Kids, including even babies, who keep turning up in hospitals with bruises and broken bones from "accidents" that would not have produced that kind of damage. Children who do better than their parents may be hated too.

In biblical times, in many cities and cultures fathers had the right to "expose" any newborn infant they didn't want for any reason. This could be because the kid had a defect or they couldn't afford another kid or because it was a girl. Or there was a plague or famine or war going on .

Since the quoted passage refers to the son being disobedient but also a glutton and drunkard, it sounds like they are talking about a grownup son. Many societies in biblical times expected even a grown son to obey his father essentially until the father died.

Parents can lie, be crazy, be evil. I'm not in favor of society murdering anyone just because their parents would prefer them dead.
