I'm late to the game having bought my first gun last year. I'd like to get a few more things before the looming 114 April deadline. I'm mainly interested in home defense, concealed carry, and range toys. I don't hunt and don't have any near-term plans to.

Here's what we have right now and on the way (caliber, gun, mags)
  • 22 LR - Ruger 10/22 (12x mix of 10/15/25 rd), Sig P322 (6x mix of 20/25 rd)
  • 380 ACP - S&W Bodyguard 2.0 (4x mix of 10/12 rd), Sig P365-380 (8x mix of 10/12 rd)
  • 9mm - Ruger RXM, Stribog SP9A3G (16x mix of 15/24/33 rd)
  • 5.56/223 - Ruger AR-556 MPR (16x 30 rd)
  • 12 gauge - Charles Daly 301
My budget is 2k or less, prioritizing value and filling in gaps in my current pile of guns and mags. Here are options I'm considering so far:
  • A second AR15
  • An AR10 like PSA PA-10, Sig 716i Tread, Springfield Saint Victor (or some 20 rd pmags to stash for now)
  • A second G19 Gen3 clone or a Glock Gen5
  • A second Glock mag PCC, possibly an AR9 like Freedom Ordnance FX-9
  • Another reliable double stack semi-auto 9mm - M&P 2.0 or ?
  • A 1911... I've been eying the Springfield Operator AOS
AR10's are appealing but a mid tier gun is a good chunk of my budget. Buying some 308 pmags to stash away for now may be a better use of my current funds. I'm set on Glock mags, so another gun that uses them could be fun. I've wanted a 1911 in 45 for years, but I wonder if it should be prioritized lower with revolvers and lever guns.

Decisions, decisions. Any ideas and suggestions welcome.

My advice at the least is just get an Anderson lower receiver (or 2) that you can build up later. Odds are the lower receiver parts and the uppers will be available for a good long while yet to come.

Put the rest of your money into Maple Leafs, Kruggerands and Generic Silver Rounds and you will have way more money to finish the projects going forward when you need it. :)

A guy can never have too many 1911's. I'm short on funds too. So I'm buying the mags for the guns that I want now, and will start buying the guns I want come summer.

Mags that I have yet to get:
Some 30 rounders for my Sig P320 Compact
AR Mags
A couple more 33 round Glock Mags
6 mags for S&W SD 40

I am buying a chassis kit for my P320 from a forum member next week, and will be purchasing the above listed mags next week as well.

One gun you may want to consider is a Beretta 92 of some flavor. I have two. I have an M9A3 and a two tone 92FS. Those are my favorite 9mm pistols.

I got some P320 mags I'm looking to sell. 2 15rd compact mags. 2 30rd and 2 21rd mags. Either new or near new condition. PM me if you are interested.

Good idea on the lowers, and saving and investing in metals is always wise. Appreciate it!

Why not all ?
Ar 10 lower plus mags
Ar lower
Glock lower
Ar9 lower
If you spend wisely you could get that done for under 1k with 500 for another pistol and 500 for a budget 1911.
All of those are really easy to build and there's plenty of info on this forum.

As for glock clones and ARs, I would buy frames and receivers first. That way you can have more money to spend on other firearms where buying a frame or receiver is not practical. You can finish building out the frame and receivers after M114 is in effect.

I like the way you think. That sounds like a great bang for my buck.

It's a great option and is honestly more fun in the long run picking out the parts and building exactly what you want. Only downsides are it will cost a little more in the long run (sales/blackfriday will be your friend) and a "custom built" gun won't hold its value like a factory one.

^^^This!

  • Get the lowers for the guns that you know are pretty straightforward builds, and mags.
  • Skip anything you'll still be able to acquire post-ban like the 1911, revolvers and lever guns.
  • Consider adding a few extra stripped AR lowers to your list to scratch whatever new itch might pop up on the future.
  • Prioritize each item on the purchase list (1 through X) so you can quickly make good decisions if money suddenly gets tight or you run out of time.
