It specifically says every free, able bodied male citize. 18-45 years of age shall be enrolled in the militias.

It also specifies that the citizen soldier " provide himself with a good musket or firelock, a sufficient bayonet and belt, two spare flints, and a knapsack, a pouch, with a box therein, to contain not less than twenty four cartridges, suited to the bore of his musket or firelock, each cartridge to contain a proper quantity of powder and ball; or with a good rifle, knapsack, shot-pouch, and powder-horn, twenty balls suited to the bore of his rifle, and a quarter of a pound of powder; and shall appear so armed, accoutred and provided, when called out to exercise or into service, except, that when called out on company days to exercise only, he may appear without a knapsack. According to "text, as informed by history and tradition" test of Bruen.. it would seem that the restriction to 25 yr age for purchasing "assault weapons" or some such, would fail; if "assault weapons" be analogous to "a good rifle", and the same for magazine restrictions as this Militia Act specifically has a minimum of 20-24 balls or cartridges.

I certainly paid taxes before 18.

My first W-2 job was at 14, as a land surveyor's assistant. Worked for one of the Grand Sobo's coworkers who ran a surveying business on the side.
But I had been working paying jobs for years before that. Yard work, shoveling snow, car wash/wax were my go-to breadwinning schemes, starting at 10 years old. I like money best...

I doubt they still have it today, but in high school there was a program if you were under 16, a company could bring you on for work experience unpaid. An intern. I got my first real job at an auto parts store at 16 because of that program. I think min wage was $3.35 in Ca. A few blocks over at In & Out burgers, they were paying $5.50hr. Everyone at school was trying for that gig. Though you could get an early Camero for $800 -1600.

Working maybe 15-20hrs a week after school. After tax seeing about $75 every 2 wks. A kid today will see about $320-350 after taxes for those same hours.
