Wow... I love the sound of the Brian May guitar. It's out of this world! I touched once and the Trisonic PU are just amazing. I dig the neck its just above my capacity. In my opinion the bigger and the fatter electric the guitar neck not just gives you the sustain but the sound is much fuller. The neck that I have in the stratoblaster was originally a "Boat Neck" which I notice the sound is really nice. Its a bit of struggle for me so I slowly shaved it to an asymmetrical V. Only one side is slightly shaved so I can reach the notes with less tension on me.
Not everyone can comfortably play those guitar, so as mine. That's why I like it.... :s0112:
So did you built it?
No, I didn't build it. I will PM you with the story.

I designed and built these 2 guitars. The very first one was done long ago. The 2nd design (The one on the bottom) was almost done in 2020. Something happened along the way and I lost my interest. So until now, it still looks the same in the picture. The nut width in the 2nd one is 1-3/4 Floyd locking tremolo. I had it custom made at that time. I have all the complete hardwares.

That Gretsch is cool. Rick Springfield and Roy Clark played them. I always wanted one. I had the chance to buy one, but the upper fret access is so limiting that I decided to pass on it. That photo is a picture of one of the ones I looked at.
Springfield is a so.... underrated artist. That guy can play the guitar real well, he can sing very well, he's got a great stage persona. Another guy is Gino Vannelli. That guy can play almost any instrument. When he got recruited at A&M records in 1 month he made 3 albums. Just like that!

I saw Rick in Medford in 1981 or 1982. That black Super Axe of his was awesome. If I ever found a black lacquered, not stained one, I would buy it. Just for the nostalgia. Unfortunately, as a lead guitarist, the upper fret access isn't good enough for me. It;s like an Epi Casino. Beyond fret 15, you are done. Interestingly, there really is no radius at all on this Gretsch Super Axe's fretboards. Almost like a classical guitar. But, I guess that;s how Chet wanted it.

Did you ever got your hands on a 2000 Gibson Chet Atkins solid body? I remember it was black...

Played ukulele by ear along with everything on the radio in the 1960s. What a fantastic time to be absorbing music.

Then I saw Tiny Tim perform Tiptoe Through the Tulips on TV and nearly vomited.

Realized it was time for an electric guitar immediately.

Spent a few years teaching myself Hendrix, Steppenwolf, Zep, Skynyrd, BÖC, Allmans, Montrose, etc. Always kept day jobs (including 20 years military) but frequently played in scruffy bar bands after work. There've been 8-10 groups on and off over the decades.

Fast-forward to 10 years ago, I'm all acoustic now. No more hearing damage, mountains of complicated gear or managing childish band "dynamics."

Now I play/sing at open mic venues, 3-4 songs at a time.

Anyone else here in the same boat?

Seriously, I'm actively looking for a compatible singing/playing acoustic duo partner to play Rock, Blues and Twang covers. Now and then, just for fun.

GOAL: Play 3-song open mic venues around Hillsboro (anywhere west of Portland). Message me.
If you were in the Seattle area I'd be down, been looking to get back into playing live now that my kid's a little older.

If my friends were saying lets watch Springfield. I gotta ask them twice coz I couldnt stand the other guy. Springsteen is the worst guitar player and singer I ever heard....:s0140:

They have this 10 inch at guitar center new release. I wanna replace the speaker in the Orange combo amp. I try to use the original speakers as much as I can. I even muffled my amp with foam on the front. That original Orange speaker sound really good and loud in small gigs. It sounds like a "12" inch vintage 30. That is the same speaker I have in Marshall 4x12 cabinet that I been using LIVE for the past 40 years. Trying to move a bit in a quieter days when I play at home....

I am down to one amp. A Marshall origin 50 full stack. I bought it Bach during the crud when they were on sale at Sweetwater. 700 bucks for the head a both cabs. I can take it down to 5 watts but usually use it at 25.

That dang thing is furniture. I won't sell it because I can't move it.

Get a small combo. There's alot of used combo you can by that's really reasonable. This ones are a steal...
I dont know if you ever played a G-Dec at home. This one has a midi backing track. You can also do Phrasing, Solo, and Loop. You can start and finish on the solo part only if you want. This model G-Dec 3 goes all the way more than 2 minutes you can do your solo. 15 watts is 84 bucks for a used backing track midi amp. Thats crazy.
In my opinion 30 watts solid state is not that useful for electric guitar. Too loud for practice and will never cut through on even in garage band practice.

I had the G-Dec I before and that's only 30 seconds phrasing. But it vastly improved my skills. So I end up buying the version 3. But honestly the most solo I do is 20-30 which is already that strong.
