It's been decades since I played with a blowgun and I have the itch (not the bad kind that makes it burn when you pee…).

Partly to motivate me to get my basement and garage back together and a lot just for nostalgia from getting one at a gun and knife show as a young teen with a giant bag of ends and steel darts.

Anyone have these and use them? Good targets you have found or made and any big difference in the major brands out there?

I haven't looked to hard but I would imagine you can not hunt with them in OR or WA.

If you have some knowledge then please share ;)

Blow gun is what you do after you smoke the bad guy with all 6 rounds by fanning the hammer on your SAA.

I have a cold steel one i bought on Amazon for around 50 bucks. Be sure to buy extra darts. They are cheap but bend easy. They are surprisingly hard hitting. I can't hit nothing unless its the broad side of a barn but fun none the less.

I may know a guy who has a bunch of fuseless firecrackers that fit nicely in the barrel of a blowgun. It's amazing how far they can fly across a building and scare the sh!t out of someone, LOL

Update (fwiw):

I ended up with this version :

Tim Wells Slock Master Blowgun, 5 Ft Long .625 Big Bore Caliber, Includes Pistol Grip and Quiver, 10 Razor Darts and 10 Blow Darts Included, Bronze Color

I just couldn't justify another $30 on the camouflage edition when I'm not hunting with it. Spent the extra money on a target and some wood (not bamboo as from what I could find, wood will not warp as easily) darts.

I wanted to get some of the plain Jane wire darts to use with a dartboard I bought at a garage sale for a buck probably 2 decades ago (so around $450 in today's money) but the ones I had in my save for later list are not available anymore and I haven't found them on Amazon again yet.

The wood ones are surprisingly fun with the foam target though and I was very surprised to hit the bullseye on the first shot from about 20' away. It is definitely as intuitive as I remember but this thing is definitely not a toy for kids and I am somewhat shocked at how powerful the thing is.

I haven't had a lot of time to play with it but it is fairly cheap entertainment and absolutely brings back some nostalgia and memories of good times and some mischievous ones as well.

I did think I would remove the pistol grip but it is actually comfortable so it is there to stay.

I do not have one of the .40 cal shorter ones but I suspect for my purposes they would have been just fine, although the big boy was not really that much more and is a hoot.

I highly recommend them for folks with a long place inside or a private backyard with a good backstop for some 'plinking' fun that hopefully won't get your firearm ownership put into jeopardy.

Thanks for all of the input!

Completely understandable! I got it just simply because I liked the pattern. I don't hunt with mine either. :D

You have no idea how hard it was to make the choice to not go with a cool design on it but my year of cutting costs frugalness kicked in and I am ok. Maybe down the road I can play with coloring it….

Do you have darts you would recommend and any you would suggest not wasting money on?
For popping cans and such, I recommend these, and they are easy to find if you miss.

The only other darts I've used are from Tims website. I do have some wicked hunting darts but, haven't used them or practiced with them yet.

Update:
Not screwing in the second 2.5' piece of the blowgun doesn't seem to make a massive difference at short range and is much more manageable to move around the basement with instead of a 5' beast.

I Ordered these to use in the basement and am surprised at how hard they hit! Ended up with the 3 prong small game (gigging) darts instead and they followed up my message with an overnight delivery of the knockout darts.

The case was cheap and surprisingly large, not waterproof but I didn't think I would need it so, and holds an awful lot of darts.

My wife ordered the FSFT crazy broad heads for me even though we have a no hunting within a mile of the house rule but it was a very nice thought and I love her for stuff like that - no idea what I'm going to use those or the other broad heads but if we get invaded by small game I am prepared….

I also have these wood ones which a a lot of fun and the multi pack which I haven't had a chance to try on a regular dart board yet, but setting one up is on the to do list.

The dang thing is surprisingly stupidly accurate.

Either it's just an easy weapon to pick up, I have muscle memory from 35+ years ago or I'm just naturally talented with it lol.

Anyway I would highly recommend picking one up.

Now that I know I can use it as a 30" or 60" I would stay with the .625 bore size as that seems to have the largest variety of darts and accessories for it.

Oh and here are the wood ones I've tried and the multi pack I haven't.
