Well that settles it, gotta go get some Texas toast now...that sounds amazing!

It is! May I suggest slicing the toast into two thinner pieces? Much better melt, the whole slice is a little too thick. :)

Funny!!
But wrong. Mayo rocks on a GCS.
Here's the real ticket...Dave's killer bread, light mayo on both inside pieces, cheese of your choice.
Melt butter in medium-hot skillet, and fry up that sando to a golden-hued bundle of love.
Yum
I like to take some sauerkraut, squirt some ketchup in and eat it just like that. I don't always feel like a hot dog but sometimes I just like the condiments.
This!! This is why civilization is collapsing

A whipped egg, like you're making French Toast. You can batter one or both sides of each piece of bread. Then it's Tillamook cheese, Tapatio, and an onion slice. The egg makes the bread light and savory. It's great.

Now that I'm thinking, they do make an olive oil mayonnaise...I may have to give that a go here next time I'm in town :D

OK, you guys are amateurs!
Smoked Tillimook Chedder on grill toasted, and buttered buttermilk bread, spread mayo and melt the cheese after toasting, and dip in tomato lobster bisque, If that doesn't convert you heathens, nothing will! :D:s0155::D

I just had a negligent discharge.

Mama always used butter. So that's what I use.

Bacon grease could work, especially after frying the bacon first then putting bacon between two slices of good cheese... and 3 cheese texas toast... damn it sounds good now. Too much sodium for blood pressure though :s0002:Its good once in a while.

My wife uses butter, but instead of just grilled cheesez she makes basically ranch sauced pizza on toast.

I'm honestly not sure if this is the greatest shortcut ever or a "best of college cooking". But now I simply have to try it
It works great when you've got to get the kids out the door for school (when there's school that is). But pan frying is OK too I suppose....

The mayo is *for the inside*!

Unsalted butter on the outside.
Chipotle mayo on the inside. And do yourself a favor and make the mayo from scratch. 10,000% better than anything you can buy.
Spiced cheeses on the inside, like chipotle gouda.
Some appropriate veggie, like a tomato slice.

Perfection.
I gotta go with the cracked pepper mayo

-or-
Make my own aioli and do it that way.
Garlic truffle aioli. Change your life.

Kerrygold's butter softened

Spread evenly on 2 pieces of bread

Lay one butter side down on a skillet at around 3 of 10 temp

Add Tillimook cheddar on top

Cap it with the other slice, butter side up.

When the top butter just start to look like it might be melting a little flip it and cook the other side.

I like mine golden brown with some crunch but not dark brown or blackened.

Funny, I just made these today for the Wife and Daughter- scores me mad points;).

Mayo sounds like a Canadian thing to me:confused::eek::s0123:

Kerrygold is the shizz. I could spread that on an old air filter and it would taste great.
