Yup. 10 years in Club Fed, loss of 2A rights for life, and a honking big fine of $250,000 for individuals, $500,000 for organizations
No one gets that. Worst I've ever seen was 8 years and that was for a convicted felon with 26 NFA items . To be fair though they could only really prosecute homey for felon in possession of firearms because convicted felons cannot be tried for NFA possession. Usually first offense 1-2 years with no to minimal fine.

There are quite a few tutorials out there. Here's one of them from Gun Builders Depot.

Here's the ATF site for forms and instructions. Here's the form with instructions.

It sounds more intimidating than it really is.

You can go through Silencerco if you'd like to have a company guide you through it.

If you think you might be doing mare than just a couple, getting digital fingerprints is also an option. Just do an internet search and you'll find out where and how. If I remember correctly, you need to make sure you put the purpose of the finger prints into the form so that it has the correct format. AFIK, they really don't check your fingerprints against a database, just keep them on file.
I think you're right about them not checking the prints, mine went through without a hitch!

They hold that over your head and do some felony stacking so they can tell you you will die in prison. . . that is unless you would take a plea deal of 60 months

Why 60? No idea, I just picked that because that's just how long someone I (and maybe some of you ;) ) knew so he wouldn't face a jury and risk a lot longer

What is it? 95% of Federal cases plea out?

I went to there website but i don't know where to start on Silencerco website
Dunno about Silencerco.

I edited my post to you, should have been Silencershop. Black Flag has a Silencershop kiosk, where you enter your full fingerprints AFTER you have created a free Silencershop account on the Silencershop website. Apologies for any confusion!

Mind, I have NOT DONE any engraved SBR's. However had done "free tax" braced pistols -->> Short Barrel Rifle's thru Silencershop. The "free tax" window is closed, so no longer applies. You will have to have your lowers engraved.

So, you:

-create a Silencershop account.

-go to a Silencershop kiosk for prints.

-Create an ATF e-file account.

-Have your lower(s) engraved to ATF standard.

-Do the form 1 service on Silencershop ($50) + pay the stamp ($200 + $5). For each you wish to SBR. Will let you upload the required firearm photos.

You would upload your selfie taken passport type photo to Silencershop. Prints & account info need only done the once, passport selfie photo is good for 1 year IIRC (then just needs a re-do upload if expired for your next transaction).

You can also talk to John @Wellburn's Guns on Hwy 62 heading towards White City. They have always been very helpful.
I was going to suggest talking to the guys at Curt's Discount in Milwaukie, but that's not very close to you.
Going on the advice from my SIL, this is what I plan to do.

My mistake, it's Silencer shop.that has the kiosk.

Silencerco's web site does have an explanation on how their process works and it's the same for other brands. Basically, the dealer is going to walk you through the paperwork process.

Do all of your research online first, and then go to a shop to get things stated.

ETA: Black Flag Armory in Medford has a Kiosk. They should be able to get you started. Again, it's not as daunting as it seems once you get started.

When the braces were ruled illegal and we were offered the free stamp offer to do an SBR, I submitted an application. However I was super tardy in sending in the cover letter and assumed that they had, or were, going to toss my app out.
But a few weeks ago I got an e-mail and asked if I wanted them to keep it in process, to which I replied affirmative.

Today I got the e-mail that said I am approved!

Now what do I need to do? Completely uncharted waters for me.

Guess you now have a registered SBR, swap the brace for a stock, if possible.

Edit, or you could fill out the form to request removal from SBR registry... And keep it a braced firearm. Up to you.

Sweet!

As others mention, you now have a SBR.

I keep copies of my NFA stuff with me when we use them.

Never been asked to produce proof, however better to have than have not.

-Technically only ATF can ask to see stamps, or in the case of pistol amnesties (no stamp), the approval/conditional approval. UNLESS suspected of committing a crime. IIRC…
