From all I've read, all requirements are still in force. Only the tax stamp cost has changed, after the change date arrives.

So with the new bill that pass, for SBR, does this mean I can take my SB3 brace off my 300 blackout and put a rifle stock on it? Or it does not work like that?
You have to engrave your lower & file paperwork just like always. Then wait for approval BEFORE installing a stock.

This.

Not sure when the cost change goes into affect. Some say Oct, others say Jan...

Ok so what Exactly does that mean for me? I don't own any Suppressors or a SBR so I have no experience in this part of laws or what I would need to do.

All NFA laws apply. There is zero change to them.

Edit, adding:

Simplest would be for you to set up your own Silencerco Silencershop account. Then go to Black Flag Armory & use the Silencerco Silencershop kiosk to read your full finger print sets.

Then, ask down there specifically how to go about doing whatever is you want to do...

You have to apply for and receive a tax stamp same as before. Only the cost has changed.

@Camelfilter and @bcp are both right; the only change is the cost of the tax stamp ($0) for NFA items that are not machine guns or destructive devices.

As for the date?

July 4th is when Trump signed.
This part, Page 455, Lines 14-16 after the NFA tax reduction part; 1000142052.png

Makes it clear that Jan 1st 2026 is the next calendar quarter beginning more than 90 days after July 4th, because there are literally less than 90 days from July 4th to Oct 1st 2025 (calendar Q4). Edit, as of today the 5th, there are 88 days to Oct 1st, 2025

There are quite a few tutorials out there. Here's one of them from Gun Builders Depot.

Here's the ATF site for forms and instructions. Here's the form with instructions.

It sounds more intimidating than it really is.

You can go through Silencerco if you'd like to have a company guide you through it.

If you think you might be doing mare than just a couple, getting digital fingerprints is also an option. Just do an internet search and you'll find out where and how. If I remember correctly, you need to make sure you put the purpose of the finger prints into the form so that it has the correct format. AFIK, they really don't check your fingerprints against a database, just keep them on file.

For you it means you own a braced pistol and literally nothing that directly affects you has changed. If you would LIKE to install a stock, you would need to form 1 an SBR just like you always have. Depending on exactly when you do that paperwork, there may or may not be a $200 tax. That's it.

OP, @wired has a tutorial here on the forum explaining the process for suppressors but it's the same for SBR's.

We need people to violate the NFA rules so someone will have standing in court to challenge the law. Come on guys. Take one for the team.
