Pretty simple for me - 80% lower, no registration, no serial number. If nothing else, it's a middle finger to the grimy gun grabbers. That said, if I get worried about metal rails, I'll take a look at those 80% 1911 lowers, like the one Bolus built.
thats why I like it, lots of folks pay over going rate to do that in AR.....I'm about to join them
 
What are the stresses in the lower?

If you can 3d print most of it - then why not just 3d print a dozen. Get to some round count and change?

If you are thinking well I need one for use in North Dakota in February with a 70 ton tank likely to run over the pistol ... then good luck with that.


Slo-Mo showing polymer frame will flex a lot when shot and those are the forces which will break your frame. The pressure is contained in the chamber. How much stress at the back of the frame when the slide comes back?

Interesting video, I was not aware how much a polymer frame can flex while shooting. But one thing stands out for me in the video is the gun isn't being held very tight - you can see it fail to go into battery, twice, like it's being limp-wristed. It does make me wonder if it would flex as much if the 'grip' were a bit stronger, like a shooter would hold it.

the flex is the beauty of the Glock frame

its a major contributor to why they harness the hot 10mm better than a steel frame,perceived recoil feels better, less of a sting transmitted to the hands, more of a hard push than the snappy sting

I prefer steel frame handguns.....but 10mm in poly

For slides, I've bought several on Ebay as that's been the best price I could find, usually on a used slide. I've only bought one receiver parts kit and that was also on Ebay, about the same price you show above.

You could also do what I did - buy a used G22 slide and add a conversion barrel - I got both for just under $350, and I can shoot 2 calibers. Here is a used G22 slide for $249: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Glock-22-40...622990?hash=item542916f40e:g:gckAAOSwa-dWlGYe

As for the 80% kit, I do want one, just not in the budget at the moment. And, I'd really like to see the results from someone else before I dive in. I'll be watching for your report.
 
I suppose it's better they delay it and get it right rather than let their customers find the flaws for them.

"We promised you an update on the Spectre project this week, and so we shall deliver. Here is where we stand in the respect to both the "Spectre" Jig and Frame manufacturing process:

Jig Production Update: The injection mold for the Jig System is complete. Production will start on Tuesday 19th or Wed 20th

Pistol Frame Update:
The injection mold was utilized late December to produce our first set of samples. The frame has been used to test fire rounds and the mold is working. On the other hand, from that sampling we've determined several critical items that need correction. Some are cosmetic, but others are more functional to ensure longevity and strength of the product.
  • The grip has a pattern we call Hexigrip, which is being raised slightly higher than the original design, as well as centered better on the overall grip design.
  • The picatinny rail system is being tweaked to the milspec.
  • The windage is being modified and tested on the mold to allow the product to cure to the proper specifications.
  • Screw holes for the custom locking block are being designed/added to the frame.
  • The metal locking block is being modified in a few key areas along the rail system to allow for better insertion into the CNC machine for finish work. The locking block is simultaneously the front rail and locking block integrated together.

These key modifications will require an additional 30 days to complete and then re-test. Our goal is to begin shipping by March 1st. As many of you know, Polymer80 will always deliver. We want the best product possible for our customers so as a result, we will ask for your patience as we work through these modifications which will give you one of the best and most unique pistol frames on the market.

We will be updating our website as things progress. We will also be releasing a test shooting video before the product release date."
