Sorry you feel that way about Tarus guns I have three and all shot straight, have lifetime warranties, and have have never failed to feed or fire! I don't get it?

I wouldn't consider Bersa throw away guns. I own 2 and they been as reliable as my CZ 75. In fact i am looking into getting a BP9cc sometime soon.

Onto the OP. I would call in the serial number and if everything checks out, then keep it.

It's been quite awhile now and I don't work directly with the recipient of the free pistol anymore.

If memory serves, he reported it to the police with the serial number and nothing came of it. Just a "you can keep it unless something comes up" sort of thing. I don't know that else one could reasonably expect in that scenario.

I think it was a Taurus semi-auto, I forget what caliber. He said he'd try to get $500 for it. Sometimes inclined to adopt a random stray, I do remember I was completely uninterested.
