I just went through all the "We The People" petitions on the WhiteHouse.gov web site and compiled a list of all the firearm-related petitions. You can find the links for those below. I originally posted most of these links in the "Repeal the NFA" thread, but after some time to think, I thought they might get more visibility by creating a new thread instead of being on the 3rd page of a post on just one petition.

As I see new ones pop up (or they are brought to my attention), I'll edit this post and add them, so the first post contains an updated list so new readers don't have to read through the entire thread to find new ones, and then I'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this post.

Note: All all these petitions require 100,000 signatures to get an official response from the White House.

Disclaimer: My short descriptions are my best interpretation of what was said/implied in the online petition. That doesn't mean that my interpretation is correct or even that the petition correctly reflects the laws it is referencing (e.g. Regarding EO 13637, I'm taking the petition at face value, as the reading of EO 13637 was a bit confusing and unclear how it bans the import of M1 Garands and/or if repealing that EO would enable imports of anything else)... In this case, I assume that the government knows that the "We The People" petitions are signed by a variety of Americans (not all of which are lawyers), and that they will will consider the intent of the petition, regardless whether the petitioners legal interpretation of current law/EOs is perfect or not.

All that said, be sure and share this post or these links with friends who might not see this post. There has been no better time in recent history to try and reclaim lost and/or heavily restricted rights, and if we don't do it now, who knows when we'll have a better chance in the future. Strike while the iron's hot!

Some ideas on future Petitions:

• Repeal the "Gunsmithing and ITAR" executive action of July 2016.
• Repeal the "'89 Import Ban" Executive Order.
• Common-sense ITAR Reform, such as exempting temporary possession of Restricted articles by foreign persons on a range under supervision and control of a US citizen.
• Work to establish reciprocal ITAR exemptions and firearms rights between the US and Canada.

I'm sure there are plenty of other good ideas, probably better ones; two of these are "personal dog in the fight" and a third is geopolitical reality--since we have such a long and undefended border with our northern neighbors, that kind of unique "Special Relationship" implies we should try to adopt reciprocal policies to whatever extent possible, like accepting each other's Light Sport pilot's licenses (presently restricted to In Issuing Country only) for example.

Just trying to open a relevant line of discussion and brainstorming...

Too many obscure partitions randomly poping up. You have to have some type of social media campaign to help out to get the 100k signatures. This is the first I've seen or heard of many of these?

• Repeal the "'89 Import Ban" Executive Order.

I'm not sure that ban was implemented by an Executive Order. I don't see anything in Bush, Sr.'s list of EOs from that year (1989) that has anything to do with an import ban. A New York Times article from that period indicates it was done by the ATF rule making. And there is an ATF determination from 1989 that does ban the import, based upon an interpretation of GCA68.

Regardless, agreed, it needs to go away.

I wonder if someone might consider stickying this so it gets noticed. Only 191 views Vs. 2000+ on the Repeal the NFA thread that spawned this. I'd love to see 10x the people having the opportunity to sign some of these petitions.
