It took 6 fluffing' months!
My m1a loaded (aka money pit) hasn't seen the range yet. But I am fully confident it will perform well. I just finished mounting the scope at about 5am. I thought I got a deal at $1500, but then I discovered I needed"stuff" like:
9 20 round magazines
G.I. cleaning kit
SA muzzle brake
SA G.i. leather sling
SA g.i. bipod
A.R.M.S. 18 Scope mount
A.R.M.S. 22 medium height q.d. scope rings
Vortex diamondback 6-24x50 mrad reticle
NOS National Match stock. Walnut. Made by fajen according to the cage code stamped on it. Not fitted yet.
400 rounds of M80 type ammo 147 grain. 100 rounds of match ammo (168 grain smk iirc)

I haven't been keeping track of the money I have put into it, kind of afraid to, best guess is somewhere around $3000.
What a hobby!!!!
I'll have some photos far y'all later going to sleepy town now.

$1500 for a "loaded" model is a pretty good deal. Best I can find right now is about $1600-$1650. I hear they're just plain fun to shoot and to not worry too much about outright precision
